Can anyone advise me on the Herpes Virus please.

I have been with my partner for 8 years, have never had a one night stand have never slept with anyone on a first date and have basically looked after myself, however in March this year I contracted the Herpex Simplex virus. My partner has sworn he has not been with anyone except when we had a 4 month break over 3 years ago. He had a blood test which was negative but could he still be a carrier of the virus without actually having it? if so, would it have shown up in a blood test?

I have been completely put off of sex because of all this which is causing problems in the relationship. I cannot help but feel that I caught it from him. My last sexual partner was 9 years ago. Could the virus actually have been in my system all of these years?

Looking at some of the past posts, most people seemed to know who and when they actually contracted it from. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Herpes simplex can be caught very easily when children and although generally not a problem is there for life

You need to keep your immune system healthy and I would suggest echinacea and golden seal from a health food shop. Needs to be taken for a couple of months at time, then stop for couple then start again. Taking it all the time without a break will prevent it working properly.

Also, L.lysine is very good for keeping herpes simplex at bay and certainly with cold sores etc. Eat fresh food

And try to eat lots of veg and whole grain rice and not too much in the way of bread, pizza and pastries as wheat can suppress the immune system.

This can cause things like M.E if you get run down with flu or similar so do be careful with your health generally. Good Luck

Yes, HSV can lay dormant for years until you are unlucky enough to suffer an outbreak, which is triggered by a number of things. There's a great site in USA which is really helpful www.herpes-coldsores.com

Suggest that you think about supporting your immune system, Echinacea, Olive Leaf & Bee Propolis tablets have been great in helping me control things. I also take Lysine when I get an outbreak as it helps clear things up quickly. Certain foods are triggers for me, chocolate, nuts and oats. Eat healthily. Sleep deprivation & stress are also triggers. It can get you down, but lots you can do to manage things. If its GHSV you are talking about (which I think it is) then your local GUM clinic can test you if you have an outbreak.

HI I GOT HERPES OFFA MY EX WAYWARD EX WIFE AND SINCE THEN I'VE BEEN TREATING THEM MYSELF WITH A VERY INEXPENSIVE PRODUCT , SURGICAL SPIRITS , I DAB IT ON OFTEN AT LEAST ONCE A HOUR OR MORE , IT TENDS TO DRY OUT THE BLISTERS AND SHORTEN THE LENGTH OF OUTBREAK , GIVE IT A GO IT SHOULD WORK FOR YOU , PLUS IT WORKS A CLEANING AGENT SO ITS SAFE AS LONG AS YOU DON'T HAVE REACTION TO THE SURGICAL SPIRITS

Hi Rudie, thank you for your reply. I will give that a try if/when I get an outbreak. I have only had the one and that was the first one in March this year, at least you know where you got the herpes from, i only wish i did, it bugs at me so much that I don't know & everyone else seems to. I still keep blaming my current partner but

he has had 2 negative blood tests or at least that is what he has told me, he is the only man I have slept with

in 8 years, it has caused tension in our relationship.

Hope you have sorted yourself out now, I think the next hurdle (if I call it a day with my partner) is telling a

new partner that I have got this virus, I know it would put me off if someone told me.

    Good luck.
