Can anyone educate me about the drug Luvox?

I was diagnosed with clinical depression over 25 years ago and have been on PAXIL since then-20 mg/day. Lately I suspect my body has become acclimated to the PAXIL and it is not as effective anymore-25 years is a long time to be on a medication. 

The options are simply to increase the PAXIL dosage, which my Psychiatrist has done. I am now at 30 mg/day. Seems to have helped a little. I have also been advised that PAXIL is an old medication and there are better drugs out there now. One of them is apparently LUVOX.

Can anyone tell me about this new SSRI? Effectiveness? Etc.? Also, if I were to switch from PAXIL to LUVOX would I have to taper down on the PAXIL gradually or simply switch over to LUVOX since they are both SSRI's? Thanks!
