Can anyone give me advice?

Hi, I am new here. I am 58 yrs old & starting having problems with atrophic vaginitis 1 1/2 yrs ago, but did not know it until I googled symptoms just last week. I had pain during sex & light bleeding. About 1 week ago I started bleeding a little with the pressure of sitting on the toilet, so I thought I wonder if I have a infection. Trying to cure my self I used yoghurt 1 week twice daily inserted. Then I tried coconut oil with garlic juice from 1 clove of pressed garlic for 2 days. On the 3rd & 4th day I added some clove oil drops to the coconut oil mix. I started bleeding a bit more & started feeling more sore, so I stopped that & only used coconut oil the last 2 days & last night I passed a blood clot so got scared. I am only using coconut oil & today I have only had a few drops blood all day. Also I feel the soreness is better in vagina. I just have no clue if its normal to bleed if you have inflamed atrophic vaginitis other than after having sex. If anyone can help by any info please help me.

Hi Darline, please go see your doctor. Bleeding may be a result of soreness but more like you have an infection & you must get that checked by a doctor. You may need anti biotics.

AV is more like soreness, irritation with thrush/ cystitis/ piles type irritations. In the end you realise it's none of those it is all to do with our age & our vagina changing, very sensitive skin which can tear. My sister did bleed due to tearing inside due to the thinning skin inside her vag. You may need some hormone cream to help you like Vagifem but you get that from the doctor, then try some lubricants as well, like K-Y. I'm trying that first.  But first that bleeding needs sorting out. Good luck & keep us posted.

    Hi Darlene

yes yes get checked, like miss monty says you could have an infection, it time to get checked with out delay, put you mind at rest..

i dont know where you are in menopause etc, whether you take anything for it, when you had  last period, so we cannot help with the info you have given..

but best advice is get checked ..stop the coconut, yoghurt, garlic,... let your vagina have a rest from all that...

    good luck hun

Hi darlene I have these symptoms but no bleeding get that checked out it could be thinning skin and dryness and you have used a lot if stuff. Stop using anything soak your self in a lavender and tea tree oil bath tea tree is an antiseptic used in hospitals and lavender soothes. Ten drops of each in bath. Order some femidophillis by Jarrow off amazon take two a day to start with keep in fridge. This made my soreness and dry much much better in four days. See if that works and then if still dry try replens or sylk or yes they are all creams to relieve dryness. Hope this helps.

      hi jackie

the premeno duo ovules are really soothing, use at bedtime so they work while resting..

you can split them too ( cut in half while still in the sealed wrap) or they crumble, i found half enough for me .. two or three times a week ..

    Hi Darlene

    poor you, it sounds awful.

    Hi Darlenepoor.

just rereading your discussion. How are your symptoms now?

Hi - Im new to this discussion but thought you might like to know that I started using Premeno ovules about 2 months ago and can say that they have relieved my symptoms of vaginal atrophy almost completely!  Having been seen by a consultant who just said my symptoms were quite common and nothing to worry about - easy for her to say! - I was put on HRT for 3 months with no relief.  I was still bleeding after very painful sex to the point that we chose not to have full intercourse.  I happened upon this discussion and decided to try the Premono ovules.  I would definitely recommend them.  Hormone free - very natural although sometimes a bit messy - a small price to pay for the relief of symptoms.  Worth a try - what you got to lose?  My GP said she could not see anything harmful in them and wants me to report back on results.
