    Hi Everyone,

I have recently been diagnosed with GASTRITIS and in the letter provided by the doctor who did the gastroscopy, he said that I was morbidly obese (I am 176cm tall with a weight 111kg - 38 years old male) and that doesn't help with my reflux. He also said that my cardia is a bit lax.

He goes on to say that I will do well on a PPI and that I should lose weight and I should try to stop smoking. Then he writes a sentence that confuses me ... "This may cause weight gain which would just aggravate the troubles."

So I am wondering if the PPI would cause weight gain and if so, why start taking the PPI, if my weight is the issue?

I gathered from the above input that diet and eating habits need to be changed - I am also willing to try some natural remedies, but I don't want to go the wrong way.

I am pasting a photo of the letter from the doctor and I would appreciate any input.

FYI - TRUSTAN is esomeprazole 40mg .... I have been instructed to take 1 tablet in the morning, roughly 30 min before having anything else.
