Cooling the skin helps, but, not too cool as I've read that cam be a trigger to the nerve also. I use freezer packs (soft) with towel between skin & pack when I sleep. Helps a lot. (Mine on face, eye, ear for 15 years). Try antihistamine eye drops? They helped me with itch. & antiviral eye drops prescribed at beginning. Don't damage your eye. It gets scarring. Super Lysine! Start with 6 a day!

    Margaret,

While some on the site take Lysine supplements, if you have liver, cardiac, or kidney disease, they are contraindicated. If you Google the Lysine/Arginine diet regarding Herpes Zoster-Shingles, you will find the foods to eat and avoid. I know that eating nuts exacerbates my Herpes Zoster-Shingles immensely.

I eat the Lysine rich foods anyway, and try to avoid the nuts..now if I could only avoid them in my life,. All would be great!

    Best regards

    Merry Juliana
