Can anyone help Rafaelo Procedure

Hello Everyone, I’ve been suffering from piles for some time now. I’ve been told about the Rafaelo procedure, as it suggests, will the surgery be painless. Please advise or share story of those who have had this particular procedure please. Thank you for any help.

Hi
The procedure itself was pain free ( i was awake and fine throughout) but dont be fooled by the post op nonsense. I was off work for 10 days and it took 6 weeks to start feeling better. Lots of painkillers and baths, and a very distressing first few days.
plan your operation around a time when you have a few weeks to get better.

Yesterday (Day 6) evening was my worst day of pain yet. 8.5/10 all started after a BM with lots of swelling afterwards that lasted for several hours.
I've decided to skip meals now to try and see if i can prolong my next trip to the toilet to give that area a chance to rest.

Have you considered electrotherapy? It's slightly different to Rafaelo (radiotherapy) in which they use a low electrical current to shrink the haemorrhoids rather than injections. i had electrotherapy 2 months ago and was treated at home by a specialist nurse... thankfully I'm now hem free! no anaesthetic was used and i wasn't in any pain during the treatment.. definitely worth exploring before you decide to go ahead with rafaelo as it can be quite painful i hear. Electrotherapy was a just a bit uncomfortable when they moved the tube around in my bottom.

WOW Matt! I had Rafaelo performed by a colorectal surgeon in a medical clinic, who was also able to confirm that I didn’t have cancer! I wouldn’t allow a nurse to treat my haemorrhoids, and certainly not at home - what happens if they started to bleed during the treatment? A bit risky, no? Rafaelo is not radiotherapy (which I believe is used to treat cancer), it is actually radio-frequency. Each to their own I guess.

Hi Dirk.
I reached 4 weeks post op last Friday. You will improve, but it is really, really slow. Week 3 was really similar to you, just as you describe.
I am now down to just two paracetamol's after a BM and the pain is nowhere as bad as it was previously. i could probably just about cope without painkillers now but its still a bit uncomfortable for a couple of hours afterwards.
It gets better but I think its a good 6 weeks before one would say they were recovered.
All the best

In week 3 - I took 2 paracetamol half an hour before a BM and then 2 Ibuprofen tablets one and half hours later. This really helped manage the pain. Sometimes I needed a further 2 paracetamol a further two hours later.
lots of experimenting...but that worked for me a long with a hot bath straight after BM.
Hope this helps

how is everyone now am die to have this done in April feeling so nervous about the whole procedure as mine have calmed down again since I changed my diet no alcohol loads f fibre and vitamins and plenty of exercise now no bleeding but they still prolapse after BM which I have to jump in shower push gently to get them inside again and now no pain afterwards .
I suppose I'm scared I'm spending 2.5k and it not work and be in a lot of pain for nothing
anyone had big internal hems that prolapse and you have to push back in yourself that's had rafaleo and it's worked for you. any advice would be helpful please
my surgeon is haji in London clinic

Hi, I had mine done December last year. 2 large, and 1 very large. Various times in the year I'd have to push them back in etc.
I'm now fully recovered I would say but it was very bad for me for 3-4 weeks. At least two of those days I was a 9.5 on the pain, never ever had pain like it before in my life. Still had considerable blood loss on week 6 but far less pain then. Unfortunately for me 2 went but the largest 1 still remains (but smaller) and was causing me a little bit of issue up until a few weeks ago.
If someone asked me a couple of weeks ago I'd say it wasn't worth it but now I'm thinking it was. I definitely won't go through it again unless absolutely necessary.
I'm sure it will all work out OK for you but just be prepared for varying levels of pain (everyone is different) but it does go eventually.

Hi Michael,
Check out electrotherapy, I paid £995 for my treatment and it worked wonders for me after one treatment. I had grade 2 piles and they're finally gone after years of suffering . It's only available in the UK at the moment so definitely worth checking out if your undecided to spend 2.5k for rafaelo. It's a different procedure completely as they use an electric probe to shrink the piles and there was no painful anaesthetic injections used.
Good luck!

If I were at all cynical Matt, I would guess that you worked for the company! I only say that coz yours is the only positive testimonial I have read on electrotherapy! All others have said its a waste of time and they end up having Rafaelo or something else. Good on you though - pleased its worked for you!
