Hi ive not posted in a while just struggling along and have been relying on Facebook fibro groups for some sanity. I do work in a flexible job and have done for years over the past 12 months things have got progressively worse to it affecting my mind and job along side my whole body. I've been off and on sick and was told to apply for pip. Which I have done the letter has been with them less than a week and they have just called me to do a home visit this friday. I don't know why but this has just brought on a massive panic attack. I've also recently just come home from hospital for other conditions not listed on my form please please can anyone offer any advice at all .... massive or small. Has anyone else had there home visit so quick ? Has anyone else been given the option of home or center ?can I add my other things not listed on form ? Nervous wreck

Hi luaraloo. I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time. I would suggest that you don't surmise and build up all kinds of worries in your mind. I think that it seems to be a good sign that they are responding so promptly. It is to get to know your situation dear and to assess your needs. There is no need to become anxious. You cannot help it that you have these health conditions. That is why these services are in place. Just answer their questions openly and honestly and then wait and see what is decided. Stop worrying and stressing. What will that accomplish? I am certain that it will all turn out well in the end. Just take care of yourself. One day at a time my dear. Warmest regards. Maggie xx

Hi luaraloo, home visits are pretty standard with pip, they are the same as going to the centre just at your own home. try not to worry.

you will need to give the assessor all of your proofs/paperwork even if it's not on your original form, the more evidence the better..

    ?Good luck.

Hi Luaraloo, I haven't had a home visit, but you must definitely add the other conditions not on the original form. Your anxiety about the visit is also a very relevant condition. Don't forget to answer all their questions as if it was your worst day; don't say things like, 'well I manage.' as they tick boxes that you are completely able to do things. I had to give up work 16 months ago, and am only able to manage financially because I get standard rate pip for daily living, enhanced rate for mobility. I also get ESA support group, so if you have to stop work you can claim that too. Hope this helps. x

Thanks Jeanne I didn't know this. I'm almost out of my sick pay zone so that's handy to know as I'm not sure if I'm going in for a hysterectomy yet. I'm so nervous I don't know what to expect. Can they make you have two assessments x

Well you won't need two assessments for pip, at least not until it comes up for renewal so to speak, but if you claim ESA you will have a separate assessment for that. Good luck. x
