My dad has just been diagnosed with alcohol related liver disease, the hospital still can't tell us what stage he's at and they never give me his blood readings re his liver in form and abbreviations I've read posted on here, tbh they never give me his full bloods results despite me calling every day and asking. I'm doing everything I can to understand this disease, the terminologies used.. what they mean what the readings mean on his bloods and what is good and bad for certain levels and also trying to find out what I can do for my dad to help him with his symptoms, his health and just help with anything I can. I'm absolutely petrified at the thought of losing my dad to this and I don't know what I would do if I did. muscle wastage has started to kick in on his arms, swelling from fluid and gas in his tummy has it 3x its normal size, swelling in his legs ankles and feet and made them also 3x bigger and he also has gallstones as another result from the disease. He has been told qr some point he will have a drain fitted to slowly drain the fluid from his tummy. this is the first time in 3weeks since he was admitted to hospital that some proactive has been spoken about. before he went in to hospital and beforw he knew what was wrong with him he was really poorly, throwing up blood clots etc but he was some how managing to still get up and go out every day but he was sleeping a lot, but then he went in to hospital and he just seemed to have gotten worse... his jaundice got worse his belly than began to swell and then went huge so did his legs. he then came home and perked up you could see the whites of his eyes again his mood was lifted he seemed generally well in himself bar uncomfortable from his tummy and his other usual symptoms he had. he then went back to hospital last week and they said his bloods had picked up and the inflammation in his liver had started to go down. he's now been there for 4days and everything has gone worse again he can't even lift his legs now because there's so much fluid, his eyes have started to go yellow again, he's getting out of breath very easily and is losing his voice. I just don't know what to do or what's happening to make him always go worse when he's in hospital but any help from anyone I would appreciate so much! p.s if anyone makes it to the end of this post thank you for having the patience and taking the time to read it all!
