Can anyone recommend a good doctor? Uk

Hi
I'm at the end of my tether I've been suffering for many years with debilitating thyroid symptoms and have tried so many treatments and doctors.
Are there any doctors people recommend who are really renowned for helping people get better? Ideally in the UK but I would consider travelling if the results proved worthwhile. I'm just a bit warey of pouring more money I don't really have into more consultants pockets without any results.
I saw one doctor on the thyroid UK recommended doctors lists but didnt have much luck with him.
Any help or recommendations would be much appreciated.

HI,
I was diagnosed in 2000 with hypothyroidism and was eventually referred to an endocrinologist this year. I saw Dr Barnes at Maidstone and Tonbridge Wells Hospital in Kent.
lt was a very informative appointment and Dr Barnes was really friendly and really listened to my sad saga! As I was leaving he said "I will get to the bottom of this"
He referred me for many blood tests and following the results a test on my adrenal gland.
I am now waiting to have a glucagon test to check my pituatry gland.
I am so relieved that at last I have support with this awful condition

Hi Caz
Imo we are given treatment to help the symptoms and getting the thyroid back into balance again to the point where you're healthy enough to stop medicating it is never reached, as this isn't on the menu. I think this is partly because synthetic meds are not synthesized or utilised by the body properly. So long term solutions are rare. I'd recommend you look into regaining full health through 'alternative' aka natural means. Functional medicine, herbalism, and homeopathy are all paths towards a different experience and a more holistic outcome. Perhaps you do some homework with one of these. Best wishes xx

Hi leigh
Thanks for your advice. I have been seeing a holistic doctor and had no a great deal of luck which is why I'm trying to find the best thyroid specialist I can. I do appreciate where you're coming from that there doesn't seem to be any guarantee of recovery from any direction

Dr Mack Harrell in Hollywood , Florida is one of the best in US ,he was the president of American Thyroid research , now he works mainly with Dr Bimston , Thyroid surgeon at the Memorial hospital. They have a center together.

Thanks for this will take a look. I ended up seeing Mark vanderpump in London but he seemed to think the symptoms weren't thyroid related so have been referred to the health equation to undergo further diagnostics etc.
