Can both eyes heal so differently from each other

Posted , 4 users are following.

hello. had 20/20 a day after catarsct moon distance tsurgery.

2nd eye done 3.5 days ago def.is way diff than first eye. white letters on black (watching cnn news) are notbright white as other eye.. and that black background is not as vivid black..

from excitement on.first eye and remarkable quick recovery and vision to not being too happy with how im.seeing in left eye (surg 3

is it too early to feel scared? I see dr for reg post OP tues (which is 5 days then after surgery) ( dr was seen 2 hours after surgery and he said it looks great)

but im.not seeing that great...could there be sure big differences?..

im.a big cry baby now🥺

hi a, i had both done on the same day and yes there is a difference in both healing and sight. my left eye like your first op seems to be settling really well. my right eye is giving me issues which will need to be investigated. it has been 3 months post surgery. it is still early days for you so try not to worry too much as things will change on a daily basis. try not to compare the eyes individually but instead try to look at things using both as for me, the vision started to get better when i did that. i defo have have floaters in my right eye which will need to be remedied and at my last check up, it looked like it had been over corrected but i think neuro adaptation is kicking in. In the early days i had the same experience with black letters white background and vice versa but i notice it less now. Main thing is not too worry but let the surgeon know exactly what you are seeing so that he understands your journey and can advise / reassure and re- evaluate if any tweaking needs to be done later down the line.

    Wish you all the best.

I want to first thank you for your time in responding. That brings me comfort! I have such a bad habit where all day long I'm comparing one eye with the good eye and getting so worried.. such diff in healing and was expecting second eye to turn out the same. I got the new tecnis II monofical with ORA in the OR. in both eyes.

4 weeks since right eye done monofical dustance- perfect 20/20 but yesterday was first day seeing itty bitty round dots of floaters. like black pepper dots. really soooo tiny. I had strung like floaters before surgery. but this one month after? do you thi k since its 4 weeks only these little black pepper flowers might go away?

Awww, they heal differently; they are individuals. But its early on and they go through changes. Even now, for me, despite exact same lens placed in each eye, one healed faster and works better. The good part is, they both will work best together so hang in there.

than you are for your comforting support!!

I live in nyc and they are stopping elective surgeries!! so I got my 2nd eye 4.5 days ago and so glad I made it in time!

did you also keep closing and opening one eye and then the other eye to see ,and or read from.distances to see how hood or bad each eye was??

Im so glad you got in "under the wire" and your eyes are done. To this day, a few months later, I still do the one eye test every once in awhile. Also my right eyelid sometimes feels better closed momentarily. I stopped testing, hopefully, once I accepted the left eye sees better than the right both eyes together see best. You will be glad they both work stronger than 1. Probably if you had them set differently, you wouldnt know one might work better at its setting than the other since you'd have no comparison.
