Can different batches of Zoloft be less effective?

has anyone experienced anything like this before? I've been on 50mg brand name Zoloft for about 13 years now. i really don't like taking medication but I hallucinationed one time and they put me on this stuff and I've been taking it ever since. what's weird is for the most part it still feels effective when i take the medication but then sometimes when i get a refill some batches don't seem to be as effective. it's the same strength and same manufacturer.... but it doesn't feel like it's kicking in. i don't understand why sometimes one batch works and then the other doesn't. i wonder if i have to get used to the new batch before they work. I'm sure if I tell the doctor, they'll want to kick it up. i always think about getting off this stuff but i wasn't able to socialize off of it. and it would be hard to function off of it now.
since I'm in America, i think of moving to France to come off of it and i won't have the
pressure of interacting with anyone since I'll be a foreigner.
but can anyone speak to different batches not working? i just don't want to go up in strength. plus the brand is so expensive here since my insurance doesn't cover it.
any insight?

I think as long as you are taking the same brand it shouldn't make much of a difference tbh because same brands will be made with the exact same ingredients and the exact same way. different brands I can understand.
it might be more of a mental thing. you had a bit of a dip when you started anew batch and that idea has kinda stuck so when you do have a new batch you are already waiting for it not to kick in if that makes sense. the mind is a powerful thing x
obviously that's just my opinion and I could be so wrong! lol x
also coming off them is not as easy as simply stopping x I know you don't want to on them and that's fine but make sure if you do you taper real slowly as withdrawals are not very nice to say the least!
going cold turkey can be dangerous so just make sure when you do come off that you speak to your gp and discuss a tapering plan x

thanks for the response. i think you're probably right about already having it in my mind that the medication won't work with the new patch and it sets off the worrying and i get anxious as a result. im sure a doctor would say the same thing or want to bump up my meds. but im reluctant to increase since i fought not to take them for the longest time.
on the medication i don't feel as much, which is a common complaint. although probably that's why it works when you're depressed.
i could probably step down off the medication by going to 25 mg and then off of it. i don't really take it as prescribed. i don't take it on the weekends and don't really have too bad of withdrawals. really the only reason I take it is so i can function at work and I get nervous when i think it's quit working.
but i'm sure there are a lot of people out there going through their struggles. but there is no resisting time.... I'm just spinning my wheels working hoping to save enough so i can disappear for awhile.

Totally agree with Potato, that is most likely what happened. We with anxiety have linked our anxiousness to things that have happened around the same time that we started feeling a little bad for one reason or the other. I'm sure that is what it is. Now if it was a different mfg I could see that happening, I know myself its happened to me before and hear it quite a bit on forums .

yeah, the logical part of me thinks that.
and i've thought that about other batches too and then eventually they end up working. I'll even think i left them where it was too warm.... but it was only 85 degrees. probably my mind playing tricks on me.
in some ways i prefer depression to taking this stuff...

ahh just seen that. That can definitely cause dips in mood when you don't take as you're suppose too. Also, be careful when going off and coming back on, you might feel fine for awhile but when it comes back you have to go through all that start ups again, trust me I been there done that.
I wish u the best though, I hope that coming off them is the right thing for ya and all goes welll!

thanks... I'll probably move out of America and then come off them. it feels like I'll have to be someone else off of them. I'm definitely less social and more withdrawn off the medication. it would be hard to explain at work with coworkers and the life I've known the past 13 years. but there is a time for everything. I'll always have the memories....
