Can Flickering Vision be caused by Anxiety?

Posted , 3 users are following.

So I've been having what I think is another anxiety episode.

It started with me having a twitch that later went away .

But I developed started having a lot of symptoms to do with my eyes, my eyes playing tricks in the corner of my vision. And later flashing lights in the corner of my vision when it's dark and I move my eyes from side to side.

My current one is only what I can described as like blinking when haven't or I think I haven't.

It's a fraction of a second, like switching a light on and off.

This has been happening about 3 times a day for the last week.

I've been to the optometrist, had the eye drops to dilate the eyes and had a OCT scan of my eyes. Everything is fine.

Anyone else experienced this or something similar.

And yes I will be going to my doctor to get checked. Just wondering if this has been experienced by other people.

Thanks

yes Steven it’s very common with anxiety. I’ve had anxiety on and off for over 30 years and I’ve had those sensations in my eyes many times. My eyes are very healthy but when I am anxious or even when I don’t know I’m anxious, I can have the flickering, flashing, , floaters in my vision, sometimes it looks like I’m looking through steam because everything looks wavy , And a few other crazy things with the eyes.

. None of them are dangerous if your eyes are healthy and that’s good you got it checked out so really the only thing left is to try to reduce your anxiety as much as you can to help reduce those symptoms. It’s good you’re going to get a check up and if you are young everything will most likely be just fine. Just wanted to let you know that a lot of other people get those same type of sensations in their eyes when they have anxiety.take care!
