Can GERD/Reflux spur colitis flare ups?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have been suffering with bouts of UC for around 2 years and suffering with GERD intermittently for around 3.5 years now.

Only in the last 6 months have I noticed that when I have a long, sustained flare of reflux (over one week) I am almost guaranteed a UC flare.

I’m wondering if the two are connected in some way - if my acid levels are too high would that cause a colitis flare up?

Any help/advice/shared symptoms would be appreciated!

    Hi Nicola

You may like to try alkaline food, such as green leafy vegetables, cucumber, lemon juice,... also anti acid medications.

    Hope this helps.
