    Hi klm1213

So I am 46 yrs old. I have just realized I am in perimenopause after many doctor appts and tests where everything is normal. So here's my symotoms...shortness of breath, foot cramps, pain behind eyes, tension headaches, hair.loss, crashing fatigue, jelly legs, shake tremors, anxiety attack, panic, hot flash and then cold spell, nauseous, heart palpataions, and worse during my period...which seems to be heavier and closer together. So this weekend I was crying with my period and all these symptoms at once and i read tons of other women with exactly the same things in their 40s. I was sooo relieved to find out I didn't have some undiscovered illness. You are not alone. The doctors don't even suggest this possi unity unless you've stopped your periods. Perimenopause can last between 2 to 10 years. Some have o my a few symptoms...i am not surprised to have most of them ( seems to be story of my life) I am now going to find out how I can deal better with this as i do not want to be bedridden for the rest of my 40s. I have never had a health problem in my life so this is all very new and hard to accept. I wish you the best...cognitive therapy can help if you are having anxiety attacks. I have learned how to keep them under control knowing they will pass.

Thank you Shelly! I was so sure I was going through perimenopause after reading some post on this forum and then when the results came back normal it was very disheartening and started to scare me. I am still convinced I'm going through it because I have every single symptom that you have! I just wish doctors were more supportive and aware and ask you how your feeling and not just rely on test results. Best wishes to you too! If you ever need to vent I'm here :-)

One of the worst things for me is to have to give up and go lay down because I can't go another step.  My husband runs circles around me.  I feel so weak and helpless.

Yes Yes Yes.. me too..   I shouldn't be this tired and I'm slow too..   My mom who is 76 can get more things accomplished than I can..   I exercise  but still feel very weak and wobbly.  Hoping one day I will feel myself!

Hi Klm, I started perimenopause around that age..with heavy bleeding changing in periods when I turn 50 ears old the symptoms hit me big time felt weird for 4 years had  blood work all normal, I'm here tackling a dry mouth problem and I know leading up to menopause it might have something to do with it...your not going insane to the crap doing to you, you will be ok be calm and kind to yourself early stages is always difficult but like me you will get through it range and rant if you have too Lol.

My labs are always normal but I feel awful at times.  I know it's my hormones so I do everything I can or read about that may help.   Lately it's the feeling tired and low all the time which I'm taking iron a few times a week and bumping up my vit D since it's the winter months.  And then the dreaded anxiety which I absolutely hate--  I'm nervous and worried often and I feel like staying home more  often than I should.  Any kind of exercise does help so I stay focused on that.  I've read that clean eating and drinking water also helps.   Just do what you can to feel good about yourself.

You are not alone sweet friend.  I have been going through this 2 years.  I am 45.  I feel like I should feel like this at 45!  ((Hugs))

Kim, you really can’t go by labs to determine if you are peri. Hormones at this time are all over the place.

I had half the docs saying I was peri and half saying I wasn’t. Of course I’m def peri!!

    Hi Kim!,

My doctor gave me the link to this webpage and I'm so grateful , reading all the 66 symptoms I would say I've been in pre menopause for about 3 yrs with each year giving me a couple more symptoms ! I really thought I was going crazy or that I had some really serious illness. My newest symptom exaggerated allergies!! This one by far is the worst .. my body decided that out of nowhere I was going to be allergic to things I've been using for years and it apparently happened overnight!! So on top of the leg cramps, and insomnia and the crying at the drop of a hat just to list a few , I finally have a definitive answer to my body rebelling against me ... fun times ahead , but at least now I'm not alone in this and that really helps!

it does help! Although I hate that there are other women going through this but it is a comfort knowing I am not the only one. Can I ask you what your symptoms are?
