Can I eat potassium while on Perindopril?

Posted , 1 user is following.

So yesterday, i got introduced to Perindopril (4mg). I did alot of research and the websites stated i should stay away from potassium rich foods because the medication raises potassium levels. however i talked to my pharmacist and he said that i can eat anything but not to take potassium suppliments and as long as i cut down on my sodium, so honestly i'm very confused. Can i eat potassium while i'm on this medication? Please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you!

Your doctor is basically reaffirming what you asked. Avoid high potassium foods. Do not take supplements that are high in potassium. You have to keep the levels as low as you can. I think you need to look at how much you can have a day and then work with it. Lower your sodium and potassium levels.
