can i take chlorpheniramine and sertaline together

Hi just wondering. Ive had a touch of hayfever and the chemist gave me Piriton ( brand name) which is an antihistamine, but what it really is, is chlorpheniramine maleate, which used to be used as an antidepressant, i think? im not sure, but i think it may interact with the sertaline. My chemist knows im on sertaline but didn't mention anything about it, it wasnt till, (for once lol) read what was actually in the Piriton  (brand) antihistamine. If anyone knows if there safe to take together, could you let me know, thanks. I cant get in contact with my doctor at the moment, and info on internet is a bit conflicting and confusing. Take care guys, all the best, thanks again. G

As previously mentioned you can take phenerghan. Will make you drowsy. You can buy it over the counter. It's an anti histamine and is used to treat allergies etc and as a sleep aid.

Ah brill. thanks for that, im a bit wary about taking the one they gave me, im sure it does something to serotonin receptors and histamine levels, in the brain, so wasn't really wanting to take it, will go back to my chemist and ask for phenerghan. Thanks again, i appreciate your advice. Take care. G

I can only go by my experience and I was perscibed it by my doctor for help with sleeping. I would therefore take it in the evening unless you want to sleep in the daytime!!

I know other people have used it with sertraline with no adverse effects

      Keep us posted
