Can I trust the stool test?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I had the breath test for h. pylori about a year ago, it came back positive. Couldn't stomach the triple therapy and gave up after 2 days. I had a stool test last week and it came back negative, but somehow I don't trust the result as I still have bad symptoms. Should I go with this latest result or argue with my doc for another breath test? Anyone?

Hi, I am having the stool test next week. I have read it is the best test to have for H-PYLORI. I had HP last year and I am having another test to see if it has come back. I was also diagnosed with gastritis last week, and you can have this if you got hp as well.

I can't understand how your test came back negative because you did'nt finish the course of therapy. If that's the case perhaps you did'nt have it in the first place and the first test might have been wrong. Could you tell me what symptoms are you getting?

Both tests are equal, have the same lab turnaround. ubt is the most common in large diuble blind worldwide studies. Biopsy is considered the best in terms of accuracy..but its invasive.redo

either. The only experieceence i ve had is two different labs had different results. Claudio

    GeoBeo,

should your stool result come back negative?

However, should it come back postive...and you didn't respond well to the first therapy. be sure to explain in detail your experience/s... Suggest you go to the helico dot com web site, its the heliocobacter foundation in AU...go down to the Treatment heading and click Marshall's treatments. there you will find all of the worlds HP treatments and efficacy %. There are a few antibiotics and PPI's that are not listed or wasn't on my last visit about a month ago......Unfortunately sometimes $ are involved in med selection. The most recent study published treatment was a dual therapy (125 patients) that had very  promising results. btw, it was dr. barry marshall that ID' the HP bacteria. Claudio
