Can IBS cause severe stomach bloating

Hi there.I can't handle the worry anymore.I was doagnosed with IBS 8 years ago and it started out minor, but lately it almost happens  every month. My concern is when you google the symtoms (I'm crazy like that)there are so many things that come up that are more serious...ovarian cancer, appendacitis, bowel obstruction, colon cancer etc. I always worry the Dr is missing something. My main symptom is stomach distention.Along with that I get cramps in my lower abdomen that feel like period cramps or abdominal pain that makes me feel like I have to go to the bathroom all the time.I am usually not constipated,it is the complete opposite.Sometimes I go 5-6 times a day.I have a terrible taste in my mouth,Gerd and lots of gas.Sometimes I always feel like I have to burp but can't.The nausea is the pits.Everything combined can last a week or more at a time.I have it going on now and have second guessed going to the hospital, but then tell myself...it's just your IBS.I mean it can really make me feel sick with the pains and distention,Sometimes I wonder if anxiety worrying that it's more serious gets the best of me.Does anyone feel this sick with IBS and is there anything to do for it?I can go all day without eating and still feel it...HELP!😡

I know exactly what you mean! its hard to know where the pain is coming from especially when you have several health issues at the same time! i am under my gp on verge of referral to gynae too due to irregular light bleeding/spotting for prolonged amounts of time & menstrual pain in back & pelvis. sometimes i wonder if its the pressure in tummy from bloating when its at its worse, but i think its more gynae as it happens too when im not over bloated, but i do know what you mean when you think where is the pain coming from. menstrual type pain is lower down nearer the groin, but bowel pain is normally higher up the tummy kind of line with belly button give or take a couple of centimetres. but the back pain is hard to pinpoint as when my colitis flares i get back pain in the same area i would get period pain. ibs tends to give me more twisting type cramps in my tummy, not so much the back.

Hi there.I originally came here looking to find help with what I thought was IBS pain.I now am pretty sure it is gyno related.I had an appointment Monday but had to change it till next week because I got my period late and it is still here.My symptoms are like yours.Lower pelvic cramping.I also have low back pain.My pelvic pain alternates from side to side, like it is my ovaries. Now it is also felt in my groin and upper thigh.I am a little worried myself.Did you have an ultrasound or anything else done to rule these out or just the blood work?

Thanks for your reply. I had only pelvic X-ray they thought it's from my bone because I have overactive thyroid but it comeback normal but feeling tight and crampy on my lower abdomen it bothers me so much. The GP called me after the normal blood result (C125 test can tell if you have ovary cyst or cancer.) to go back to see the GP for further investigation. I will update you if I see the GP again

forgot to say kelly, I'm 44 & had a transvaginal ultra sound about 4wks ago which showed above normal womb lining thickening which could be cause, strange as i am on the depo injection which is supposed to keep womb lining thin... my gp said i may have to go to gynae for hysteroscopy & ablation to remove womb lining, but for now we are watch & wait for couple of months & get back in touch with her to progress if things dont settle down....

Thank you looloo..I went the the Dr today because the soonest I can get in with the gyno is the 16th ( uugh). He said it sounds like it could be a UTI/bladder infection although my urine test was negative. He pushed on my lower belly and found the pain immediatly. It was very sensitive. He put me on Cipro and told me to keep my gyno appointment as well.I do have a little bit of uncomfyness down there when I urinate.I don't know,I'm still worried but he said if it was something serious I would most likely have irregular bleeding in between periods, which I don't have.If the Cipro does work then I'll feel better but until then I will worry..hate the unknown.I agree with the IBS pain,it is usually higher.

Hi Kelly, I have read your post & you could be me! My symptoms are so similar. I have IBS & have upper abdominal middle pain (between ribs & belly button) and so much bloating (feel like I'm 6-7 months pregnant) I always fear it's something bad, I also now have low pelvic pain & have convinced myself i have a cyst or something worse sad How can you have high abdminal pain & low pelvic pain at the same time? I also feel full after eating or even drinking. I always feel very bloated, it's uncomforable with the pressure. It's always there, from when I wake till I go to bed. It doesn't come & go. Doesn't matter what I eat or don't eat! I have bouts/flares that last up 3 months, then it disappears & comes back again in a few months.
