Can morning diarrhoea be caused by anxiety and being on meds?

Just wondering if anyone can give me an answer to that question? Two of my sisters are on are sertraline 100mg and 150mg and both have had severe diarrhoea and on many occasions have soiled themselves. Both get the occasional problems with anxiety like IBS. I find that i've been having severe diarrhoea for 3 weeks now and I find whatever I eat causes me problems even eating gluten free foods.

Would take this medication be causing my diarrhoea. Blood test has all ready come back clear for IBD , infection. Just awaiting stool sample.

almost certainly yes. Diarrhea is one of the most common side effects of taking sertraline. Also, the majority of seretonin is produced and found in the gut hence the direct link between mood disorders such as anxiety and the onset of loose bowels.

I always found that occasional diarrhea was a small price to pay for being happy and anxiety free. However, if it is distressingly bad and not going away, speak to your GP.
