Can my mind really create physical symptoms?

Hi guys

I hope you can help me with your experience.

I suffer from health anxiety and and my main concern is my upset stomach (pain, diarrhea, loose bm's etc).

This afternoon I suddenly realized that I have only had 1 bm today and almost no pain in my stomach. And what happens? I all of a sudden get stomach ache and have to rush to the toilet...

Is ít possible for the anxious brain to create physical symptoms?

Thanks for your help!

Oh no, I have tons of symptoms. Shaking hands, trembling inside, no desire to do things I used to, pains around my body, constantly worrying about illness, sadness, I'm easily scared etc.

    What are your symptoms?

    Yes!!

You could always go to Dr and get checked, but I have nausea/diarrhea all the time from anxiety. I know it's from anxiety bc I'll have a day where I'm extra anxious and going to the bathroom a lot, and then as soon as I'm distracted and not thinking about it suddenly I'm fine lol.

    Hi Philly

That's so true - I too can forget about my symptoms and anxiety when I do things with my kids, and then I'm fine.

I know from experience that anxiety can 100% mess with your digestion system and bowel movements. When I get really scared during potential tornado outbreaks (I have a very very bad fear of tornadoes) I've had diarrhea, lost my appetite, and even ended up throwing up.

There's a LOT of physical symptoms that anxiety can cause. I found a mile long list of them recently on the internet but I don't think I'd be able to easily find it again. (I found it during one of my late night episodes of panicking and googling symptoms. Don't be like me, kids)
