can nausea be a severe side effect of taking blood pressure medication

I am 53 and have been having very very serious bouts of nausea which has completely thrown me off balance. I have done so many tests with results all okay. No deficiencies in vitamins. Its soothing to know that this is one of the symptoms of menopause. My gynaecologist and gastroenterologisit have strongly adviced me not to use any hormonal therapy not because I have a medical challenge but because of the adverse side effects in the future. I am keenly looking at how to fight the nausea naturally. I started taking amlodipine besilate (5mg) medication this year January. Not quite long when I started I began to have numbness on my feet. I did several tests at the time and all results okay. I no longer have the numbness but now its horrible nausea. On further research I found out that nausea is one of the severe side effects of amlodipine. Please is anyone on amlodipine and is having serious bouts of nausea. Please respond as we all need to help ourselves

Hi there abijah23843 - well you probably am not going to like what I have to say....but after taking Amlodipine besilate 5 mg for 5 years than Amlodipine besilate 10 mg for 3 weeks, I think I can confirm your suspicions.  That drug is poison!!!! I started suffering many many side effects from the drug about a year after taking it, kept complaining to my GP about all these weird symptoms and all I was offered is more drugs....anti anxiety, anti depressants etc.  I never put it together that it was the Amlodipine because my side effects started about a year after taking the drug.  It wasn't until my B/P increased & I was put on 10 mg of the poison that I finally put it together.  I suffered horribly for 5 years, still am suffering (3 months off...yes side effects linger).  If you want more evidence about all the evil side effects of this drug go to patient.info Amlodipine forum.  I will tell you, your symptoms will just start getting worse, not better.  Good Luck! PS. There are other ways to lower your B/P naturally, Beet root being one of them.  Please get off that RX poison.

Many thanks for this information. I have been wondering of late the side effects I developed this year when I began to take amlodipine. I suddenly felt this could be the cause since I never had premenopausal symptoms only had light headedness about 3ce within 3 years. Also I had skipped periods 2ce last year. Its this year no periods. Truly I am going to discuss this with my GB

Hello Jeudi yes nausea is one if the symptoms of menopause. I am over the roof with it. So I am carefully looking at my lifestyle and also any new thing I have introduced within the period. Only thing that has come to my mind is amlodipine which I started taking this year January
