I have been on the above for 8years, for PMR, for the last 3years I have been taking 15mg daily. My question is can this drug affect your eyes? I suffer with dry eyes and discomfort in them. Any comments would be welcome

I have been on Pred for 14 years and have had both eyes operated on for cataracts. I have been given to understand that Pred can be a contributor to this condition.

Yes, you are right, cataracts is known to be a side effect of steroid use.

I have been on prednesolone for about 8 month and I have lost haf of my eyesight in one eye.

I was on prednisone for 1 year for sarcoidosis, during that time I developed blurring of my vision. I recently went to my eye doctor for my annual exam, he discovered that I have "mild cataracts", had to upgrade my eyeglass prescription to accommodate for it. I am having difficulty today with seeing my computer when I am wearing my prescription eyeglasses now... Also experiencing shoulder pain wondering if it is related to the prednisone use.

I have been on prednesolone for aabout a year now and I have every side effect one can even imagine. I have become a very sick woman and yes, my eyes are effected also. I am now half blind on one eye and suffer a lot under blurry vision. Other side affects I experience are much worse and I wished I had never started on steroids. In the main time I am down on 10mg from 25mg and will go down 1 mg every week and will never go on it again. There are natural substitutes and I hope I will survive this mistake I made.

Some people do alright on prednesolone but for me it was a huge mistake, even the Doctor is shocked about the side affects it has on me. I also had to take morphine patches as the pain was still unbearable. I am now off the morphine and get very slowly some strength back, even so I can hardly walk any more at all.

Good luck to all my fellow sufferers. May God bless you!

You can get a spray for dry eyes. It helped me when I had the same problem.

There is one that you spray on your eye lids if you

are unable to use drops in your eyes or don't feel

    that you can use drops.

Check with your optician which type.

I have been on various doses of prednisolone for the last 15 months to deal with my asthma and eosinophilia. I too have been suffering with dry eyes and discomfort and had not thought to connect this wiih the medication until recently.
