Can propranolol cause headaches?

Posted , 3 users are following.

This seems like a somewhat ironic question as I've been prescribed propranolol 10mg three time a day for migraine prevention but since being on them I've had a constant headache. I'm wondering if I should push through it or ask to change medicines. Thanks!

I would call my doctor and let him know about the side effects.

Hey Naomi, I sent you a link, but since it's a link it has to be approved by the moderator. I didn't know that. I didn't see headache as a symptom, but it's always possible. You can call the pharmacist or google propranolol side effects.

Thanks! Yeah it isn't a known side effect but i came off them and the headache left so I'm pretty sure it was that. Thanks for your help! Hopefully I can get something sorted soon!

hey naomi, i did start experiencing tension headaches after taking 2x 10mg for quite a while but they did start to ease after a while, i was never sure whether to attribute them as a side effect as i have felt like this about other anxiety symptoms and it turned out not to be due to the meds.  i have come off the propranolol now and the tension headaches are easing, very slowly.   i wish you the best and hope you find the answers to your questions.

      Thank you!

Thats really helpful to know. I've come off it and the headache has gone so I'm pretty sure it was that, even though it's not a known side effect. I'm currently waitng for the doctor to call me back to see if there is another preventative medication I can try for my migraines...here's hoping! Thanks for your help!
