Early days but it seems to be if I do too much one day I suffer the next, by 'too much' i mean only a tiny bit of not even exertion! Today I have been out for coffee and made dinner, so we'll see how I am tomorrow. Thanks for your response. I am just so relieved to have made this connection as I felt so well this Summer and am certainly anything but stressed having retired two years ago!! When I think, we were in Crete in late April so over four months of sun and warmth has taken its toll, clearly I will have to be careful in future. I wonder if the vaccination is available privately?? We want to continue travelling but I don't wish to tempt fate and have a reoccurence. Hope you're doing ok now

Hello , I'm new to the group , and new to this ailment. Three weeks ago I contracted left shingles opthalmicus for the first time. Shingles in my left eye followed the tract of the opthamic branch of the Trigeminal nerve, the superior branch of the fifth cranial nerve. It surprised me because I always thought the virus harbored in the dorsal root ganglion of the spinal cord , and the Trigeminal nerve coming out of midbrain has no dorsal root ganglion. I had potted some seeds indoors about a month and a half ago using grow lights from China . I'm wondering if looking directly at the lights repeatedly without any eye protection could have cause this outbreak to occur. I had vessels , and sores on my left forehead, upper , and lower eye lids, the left side of my nose, infraorbital area, my eye was bloodshot, vision distorted, I suffered light sensitivity, ice pick stabbing pain, horrible headaches, and my PCP had retired December 31st, so it was necessary to find a new one at 66 years old. He started me on prednesone zovirax and then i was seen my an opthomologist who gave me Rx for drops of steroids , antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infection , and followup appts with both.

Do you think the grow lights could have caused the initial outbreak to begin with ?? Thank you ! Mitchell
