can shingles excite other pain and itching?

I am wondering if some of the pain I'd been experiencing prior to specific nerve pain and rash could have been caused by the shingles?

I have a very isolated nerve effected by shinges by one specific rib. But for a month or so before i had been achy all over, and itchy all over... related?

I think it is certainly possible that its all related - in my case I had pain for 1-2 weeks before any rash which I just put down to being a strain or something like that but I now know that its very likely that it was the "pre-rash" shingles.

In May of 2016 they just came up all of a sudden, from under my psoriasis in some places on the left top of my body ( shoulder to face) after I returned from shopping having a bit of flu-like symptoms. I was in severe pain all through that period. The pain is persistent. Some of my husband's golf mates who have had it said the pain stays. It never goes. But, it depends though on individual's immune system. In case of some people it's one episode and it's gone, it's gone., doesn't leave any after effect. My shoulder and facial pain is still there.

Pain killers help to some extent. I was given Amitriptyline because 'shingles aftermath' was triggering 'recurrent vertigo'.
