Can sinusitis cause diarrhoea

Posted , 4 users are following.

I've had sinusitis for about a week now and also suffering with very mild diarrhoea and I'm just wondering if the two could be connected and if anyone else has ever had both at the same time? Hope someone can advise, thanks.

I would guess that the only reason these would be connected is if you're 'under the weather' with something that's affected both your sinuses and your gut - maybe a food allergy could do this?  Or have you taken something for the sinusitis which disagrees with your gut?

On another thread here someone said their long-term sinus problems stopped when they started taking 1000mg evening promrose oil.  I replied that I used to be plagued with sinusitis but since taking EP oil for something else I had never had a problem!  Worth a try!

If you end up at the doctors beware of being given an antibiotic called Ciprofloxacin (or Levofloxacin, or any others from this group called the Quinolones).  They're often prescribed for persistent sinus trouble (or UTI or many other things), but they are very strong and can seriously damage you.  Please look out for them and always ask for a different type of antibiotic.

Thank you for your reply. I have been taking taking Erythromycin antibiotics since Sunday as I have also got tonsillitis so perhaps it might be these. I've had no appetite for a week and barley eating so maybe it's a combination of everything. Thanks again for your reply.

As far as I am aware, there is no connection between sinusitis and diarrhoea. After 50 years if sinusitis I have found no connection.

    Regards Ray.

As a sinus sufferer for over 50 years I have never found a connection with diarrhoea. Regards Ray.
