Hi guys, I've had this thing on the tip of my penis for a few months, it doesn't create any problems for me other than looking a bit weird, I'm just wondering if it's some sort of an STD or something? It almost looks like the inside of my urethra is trying to come out.

Doesn't look to unusual for me. I'm assuming by the roughness of your glans you are circumcised?

G, it would have helped to have known your age?

As James states, these are quite a normal part of the glans / head of the penis. Not all men get them as distinct as you have them. The age thing is relevant because what you have may become even more distinct before the age of 30YOA.

The external part of the exit from the urethra is called the Meatus, and again that looks quite normal ......

If you have taken risks during penetrative sexual activity then the only way to check whether you have an STD/STI is to get tested - but you do NOT have any symptoms of these.

I am 22, the weird part that kind of bothers me is that there is like a "swelling" and slight discoloration right next to the meatus image

So as James and I are saying, what could look like swelling to you, is quite a normal part of penile development which continues up until the mid- to late 20's.

In addition, the discolouration you notice can again either be part of normal changes, such as pigmentation change that can occur at any time and have no particular cause.

My final advice would be that the only way for you to achieve peace of mind regarding what you have noticed as change would be to get tested for STD's/STI's - otherwise this uncertainly will simply continue for you.
