43 year old male sober for 3 years but was an heavy drinker for around 20 years. Recently had a blood test for a life insurance policy which was rejected. I had a blood test done yesterday by my GP & have had the results back today as follows:

Liver function tests

Serum total bilirubin level 42 umol/L [2.0 - 21.0]

Above high reference limit

Serum alanine aminotransferase level 72 iu/L [< 40.0]

Above high reference limit

Serum albumin level 41 g/L [35.0 - 50.0]

Serum alkaline phosphatase level 79 iu/L [30.0 - 130.0]

My GP has asked for various other tests including HEP B, C, HIV Fibroscan, AST:ALT Ratio, Haemoglobin A1c, Ceruloplasmin, Coeliac Screen, HIV, Liver AutoAb and GPC Ab, Alpha 1 Antitrypsin.

I am terrified I have Cirrhosis or something worse!
