Can someone tell me how do I apply Nitroglycerin ointment to my fissure?

I am getting it tomorrow, going to have the pharmacy compound it for me today.
Do I massage it inside the anal canal onto the fissure cut itself? or do I rub it on the outside of the anus? and how much do I use exactly?
How often do I use it per day? I heard this thing works like magic

I never used this ointment but I tried two other ones: nifedipine and another whose name I forgot. I was allergic to something in both of them; they made my symptoms worse and I had to stop using each one after a couple of days. But the instructions for all of these ointments seem to be the same: "rub a pea-sized amount onto the fissure twice a day. " I, too, was confused about whether that means INSIDE the anus or just on the part of the fissure that is OUTSIDE (fissures can be outside or inside or both). But googling for advice I found that the advice usually is to rub it around the outer rim of the anus and then a LITTLE BIT inside as well. Don't stick your finger more than a quarter inch into the anus, so that you don't risk tearing the fissure further.

I used about a pea size amount on a cuetip and sort of swirled it around, pressing against the inside of my rectum.

Hi Kathy did it work out well for you using this method with the cuetip?

I can't say it cured me but it has helped with the tightness and spasms.

Just wanted to say thank you kathy I got the ointment today and no headaches so far so that is good.
I bought cuetips and did as you said and it was pain free using that method compared to a big ass finger.

Diltiazem or Cardizem HCL compound ? If so then you just need to apply it outside and not inside. It is calcium channel blocker which relaxes muscles and veins. I am also using same ointments for fissure. Usually I apply them 3 times a day .

With Nitroglycerin ointment you can use on and just inside the anus. slightly into the anus to cover the AF. I was told by my doctor not use any over the counter products with my current prescription since there could be a reaction between the 2 products. No more Dr butler, herbal oils might interfere with your prescription. I had no idea before. Make sure to continue hot water baths. My new CRS told me not to use the sitz bath on the toilet but to sit in a bathtub for 10-15 minutes twice a day. I hope you feel better with this ointment, There are always other medications if one does not completely help.

Hi friend I sent my Nitro prescription to the pharmacy but sadly the doctor didn't specify what strength so I made up a story and told the pharmacist that the doctor said 0.2%
I am now worried maybe I should have told them to make it 0.4%? so it would be more effective?
