Can someone tell me what thsee results mean!?

Just a quick summary before I give you the results. I had a uti recently that was traveling to my kidneys, they prescribed me with nitrofurantoin then trimethroprim for a total of 2 weeks. I'm now off the tablets and these tests results came back for my most recent culture. But it seems to me I still have a pretty bad infection! I don't really understand what it means but does this indicate a bladder infection or that it's now looking to go back to a kidney infection? I do have pain in my kidney area, on both sides, but my right is worse. It also has been travelling down my side and into my groin.. if anyone can give me some idea on what these results mean that would be great. I will of course be phoning my Dr's office on Monday morning to make another appointment.

It means you have a UTI. Leucocytes are white blood cells of which you have a lot and they show up when you have an infection. Blood cells and protein are detected as you'd expect with a urine infection.

Hi Emma,  I checked with the moderator and I gave some information and/or advice which could have been taken wrongly.

I pointed out that, in addition to Matron's help with your results, nitrites are high with a UTI because bacterial action converts nitrates in the urine to nitirites.

I hope you get on all right at the doctors.  The two antibiotics you've been prescribed are both good for most UTI's.  Your doctor should know from the culture exactly what bacteria is causing your problem and can now prescribe the correct antibiotic to deal with it.  Let us know how you get on and what bug it is!
