can stress/anxiety cause tenderness at the top of the head?

Hello all. About a week ago, I started to feel a wet; drippy feeling on my upper forehead. I'm dealing with allergy/sinus problems so I don't know if that's a cause of that.

But anyway, I've been a bit anxious and stressed about it and the top of my head has been achy at times. I've also been stressed about some family members who have been diagnosed with cancer in the past few months. Anyways, It hurts when I press in a certain area, and at times feels like someone is stabbing me! The stabbing feeling lasts a couple seconds and is on and off. I don't know if anxiety/stress can cause the tenderness at the top of the head? I went to an urgent care center and they just gave me pain meds to deal with it. So no answers yet. Thank you all ....

Too of the head headache is caused by dehydration. Pain to the touch is allydonia (spelling might be off) its a form of a migraine. Tension headaches run across the forhead like a band. Allergies/sinus can hurt basically all over and sometimes give off an ice pick headache as well. Anxiety will make it all feel and seem more intense. Be sure you do not have a sinus infection, then check your diet and see if you can do some self calming stuff to lower the anxiety. And drink a lot of water, lemon water or gatorade. I mean a lot half your body weight in ounces daily,  you can put hot  water in a basin and throwing a towel over your head can help thin mucous in the sinus too, sinus stuff sucks and takes weeks to resolve. Anxiety truely sucks and makes everything miserable. Hang in there and at least find time to get to your gp to take a look at your sinuses, feel better.

Thanks for the info. I am seeing my doc next week hopefully. Ive been using a prescribed nasal spray for the allergies/sinuses. Do you know if that could fight off the sinus infection if there is one?

Thats a good start but if it is bacterial they will add on an antibiotic. Sometimes they are viral or fungal but docs basically go for the nasal spray and antibiotic. The steam is very good too and you can get eucalyptus oil in a little vile and put in a couple drops in the basin of hot water then throw a towel over your head. You can vapor rub too. Sometimes those sprays can spur a sinus issue too. They go either way. You have desrcibed sinus issues with your symptoms. The sprays also takes weeks to be fully functional, They dont immediately work.

I've been using it for about a month. I first went to the gp cause I thought I was having migraines. (light headed, sensitive to light and sound, and dull headaches). She looked in my nose and said I had bad allergies, and sent me on my way. Told me to take allergy med along with the spray. Do you know if a gp could see a sinus infection just by looking in the nose? Or would it be a more complicated process? (Sorry I don't go to the docs often so I don't know!) luckily all those symptoms went away.

Now I'm dealing with this wet-ish, dripping feeling in the upper forehead. Now the sharp pains in the top of the head with tenderness in one section. sad

Thanks for all your help. I hope this is just anxiety and stress but I can't help but think the worst.

Whats weird about what you described here was how my anxiety got discovered. About six months ago I went to the dentist and he gave me Flexeril do to having a swolen muscle in my jaw. After a month of using it I started getting the same headaches you described. Only difference is that The month after I stoped taking Flexeril I was taking Aleve ( two tablets a day one pill 12 hours apart ) for over a month and the headaches got much worse as time went on.

My advice to you is explore ALL options. Maybe make sure when you talk to your GP that it may not be the start of Anxiety symptoms. For me it just got worse over time. Better to be safe then sorry.

So do you have just anxiety or other things as well? Thanks for the reply!

I found out after my bad reaction to the pills that I also had a form of OCD called "Pure O". In my case, basicly my bad reaction to the pills I took uncovered issues I didn't realize I had. It was so well hidden.

    Oh yes....

    Exactly what i had..

I had every test under the sun and all came back normal..

It was all down to anxiety and stress.

I am 95% better from anxiety now and they have become less frequent...

When i had CBT the guy explained that the physical symptoms can linger longer than the anxiety mind and will soon clear .

    Keep your chin upmxx
