Can stress cause symptoms?

Hi. Basically I have got a dermoid cyst and other small cyst and having had a clear hysteroscopy will be reviewed in 5months.
I have suffered pain on and off for a long time but just wondered if stress can bring on the symptoms. I have just been on a walking trip for 3 weeks and had no pain. Back to work and today have had bad pain. I work in admin in a crisis team so stressful environment although I do not show stress I think it is affecting me via my stomach.
Does anyone else experience this and how do you manage it?

I would not be at all surprised if the cysts are caused by stress, although I cannot confirrm that as I am not medically qualified.
The brain is very powerful and you can do things subconciously. In my case with epilepsy if I got too stressed out, then the I could "talk myself" in to a seisure; one of these has actually been near fatal.
In that particular case it was as a result of bullying and threats by my then line director to whom I reported.
Another example is where a person, a young girl in particular who wants to have children but having difficulty with conception can actually develop what is known as a "Phantom Pregnancy".
That is a situation where all the symptoms of a pregnancy, i.e. cessation of your period, feeling sick and dizzy on occasions, as well as a raised blood pressure etc can appear. In some cases some women actuall develop a "bump" as if the feotus is actually growing inside. Sometimes even the muscles may twitch as if you were feeling a "kick" of the would be baby.
With modern day scanning etc, these situations are easily detected, but when sceince was not so advanced, e.g. Ultra-sound scanning, some girls would not only form the bump, but the would amniotic fluid would build as well. At the extreme they could actually start contractions as if they were going to give birth.
In short your could be doing the same thing, albeit it subconsiously.
