hi Oliver. I’m really sorry you are going through this. I am also had the same feeling of being unable to breathe as well as millions of other people who suffer from anxiety and stress.
Sometimes we don’t even realize we are anxious until we get weird symptoms. I’m glad you’re testing was all normal so that pretty much points to anxiety as the reason for this.
I’ve had this breathless feeling for many years but finally learned how to control it a lot better.
the Key to breathing easier and feeling much more peaceful is actually learning how to breathe properly when you have anxiety. When you do that, there is the proper exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your body which allows you to relax.
Sometimes people focus too much on their breathing which actually can make that worse.
I as well as a lot of other people on this site listen to short breathing exercise segments that are found on YouTube. You can search for breathing exercises for anxiety, mindfulness breathing, or even one called don’t panic.
She guides you through proper breathing and it works great!
Most people will breathe so shallow that they never feel like they’re getting air in.
There are hundreds of these breathing exercises on YouTube so find one that works best for you!
you can also relax with meditations for anxiety, overthinking, etc.
i really like a meditation called guided meditation for stillness and being present. its so relaxing and peaceful!
once you learn the breathing exercise, you can use it anywhere and anytime you need to.!
do things that relax your mind as much as you can. Take time out for some joy and laughter! and don’t take life too seriously.
shortness of breath is extremely common. I hope you feel better soon take care ❤

it's amazing what the brain can do to the body. if medical reasons have been ruled out sounds like axienty, an oximeter might help to put your mind at ease, there not much and when your feeling like you can't breathe seeing your oxygen level being fine might help. hope you feel better soon.

yes, i have this, and it started around 6 weeks ago for me too. I feel chest tightness, throat tightness, and this means a lot of effort to inhale. I was very healthy and active one second, and now can't even go for walks without feeling like I'm going to suffocate. I started some therapy sessions to explore this further. I have no stress at all in life, so it's unclear why I'm feeling this way. One thing that make me feel good is when I'm doing yoga - my mind is occupied by movement, and I can't think of my breathing. Or when I'm doing some intense work, and my mind is completely occupied. I would say occupy your mind. Do something that really engages you, whether that be reading a book, painting, playing music etc. I have had this before 10-12 years ago, and it did slowly pass on its own over time. It took a few years then. I'm hoping this time, if I keep doing positive things, it will pass much faster. But it does get better!

thanks for telling me your story. Mine has also started without a trigger, which makes me always think it's a health condition. I get myself into such a vicous cycle everyday. I'm starting therapy next week so i hope it makes a difference.

Does anything trigger your breathing issues? Like exercise, or strong smells, or allergens? Is it like attacks, where it gets worse? Or same all the time? Do you feel panicky when it happens?
