Can’t cry

I am on week 8 of taking sertraline 50mg. I was put on it for anxiety and depression . Since starting the medication I have not been able to cry which is so unlike me as I cry happy and sad tears at the drop of a hat usually. I also feel sort of numb, I feel neither happy nor sad and I am not interested in going anywhere or doing anything. I don’t feel as down or as hopeless as I did before the sertraline so that is a plus. I am however on edge all the time. Is this normal?  I’m sorry if this doesn’t make sense.

Sounds like it’s doing something? Maybe talk to your Dr and he/she may suggest upping your dose ? Everyone has different tolerance so speak to your GP as 50mg is lowest dose. Im around 26 days and still getting all sorts of ups and downs... good luck

I think maybe an onion would help...:-)

Sorry to hear that, unfortunately this is part of the side effects and you're not alone, all antidepressants do numb your feelings to a certain degree, if this keeps up in the next coming two weeks (on edge all the time) call your doctor and ask for a low dose of  Xanax or Ativan to take with Sertraline, most people have both, it really helps :-)

Thank you so much for the advice. I am seeing my GP on Friday so I will mention it then.

PS ... it took me a few moments to work out the onion remark, it made me smile

      :-)
