Can't find any info on this "male clamp" procedure we've been told about?

Basically, I can't go on the pill due to medical reasons, and I've tried so many other types of contraception, they ALL just make me bleed, heavily, none stop. I've been on my period for almost 2 years and hardly ever had sex, our relationship is at it's wits end.
My boyfriend heard about this thing called "the clamp" which is apparently a temporary version of contraception for men. He wants it done, but I am unsure. I've tried to research it but there is hardly anything about it online.
Also, he seems to think he can just go get it done in the next few days - it can't be that simple can it? It took me months of consultations to be able to to go on most of my contraception types. This is very important because I don't want him to just dash out and get it done any time soon, I want us to think really hard and take the time to know all about it.

At the moment there is no reversible contraception for men, the only option they have to not have kids is either condoms or a vasectomy- which is permanent. The 'clamp' he's referring to I believe is called the vasclip and it never went into production for several reasons. They are supposed to be bringing out vasalgel later this year once they've trialled it.
I know they suck but if there's really no option for you, why not just use condoms. Better than not having sex at all surely.
Have you ever tried the Mirena coil, most women report stopping their periods altogether with the Mirena and because it's progesterone only, it's appropriate for everyone- unlike the combined pill which some women can't take because of how the oestrogen can affect you medically.
I have a Jaydess (Skyla in the US) which is basically Mirena's little sister, it's smaller and has less hormones. I still get a period but much lighter and only for about 4 days- and I used to be very heavy and bleed for about 2 weeks.
Are you in the UK or the US because I never needed 'consultations' just to have contraception, it was a mere 20 minute talk about what options could be right or wrong for me and then they booked me in to have it a week later.

Just a quick update, I found a little more about the vasclip and pro-vas. They were released and tried but the success rate of actually having them removed and reversed later was just as complicated and unsuccessful as vasectomy reversal. So basically, if your boyfriend ever wants children in future- don't do it.
