can't get a deep breath for several days

My daughter occassionally has 2-3 days where she can't take a deep breath.   She feels like she not getting enough air when breathing and then tries to inhale and still can't get a good breath.  Its doesn't stop her from daily activities but is bothersome.   It started her senior year of college  (2 years ago) and would come and go.    Her pediatrician did a chest xray a year ago and found nothing.   The problem came again after having a year break with no symptoms.  This time its lasted 8 days.  Any one else experience something like this?  I'm  wondering if it's stress induced.

    Hello there

Yes I have this every single day of my life so far with a dry annoying cough during sleep. My GP has now sent me to a lung specialist to see what the issue is - mine started last year also and then left me slightly and now back with a vengance.

I too have had a chest xray and nothing spotted.

I suffer with anxiety, whether it is this or not, I do not know! I hope you get answers as I for sure need some - I am 36 years old & ex smoker so worried it is something more sadly

She too tends to suffer from anxiety.  She has noticed that when it subsides some then she thinks about it, it can come on more just because she's thinking about it.  They have now found nodules on her thyroid so she is going to a endocrinologist next week. I read thyroid can cause breathing problems among other things . So I'm hoping they find the problem and can fix it.

Its a horrible feeling - everytime I breathe its like I am in the cold, horrible!

I am waiting for my appointment now with the respiratory clinic, how much longer I can go on is beyond me!

Hello I'm 16 been having problems like this for a few days now. It's thesecond time it's flared up worse now then the time before. I have a tightness in my chest can't get a full breath in, it's uncountable to lay down so it's impossible to sleep. But I'm having the same problem too.

Any update or diagnosis on this? That sounds very similar to what I’ve been having. I usually just fight through it until it doesn’t bother me anymore. But then it comes back and I am uncomfortable for a few days until it subsides again.
