Hi Shelly - most people don't see any benefit from antidepressants for at least 4 weeks and it can take much longer. So hang on in there because you often feel worse before you feel better. Also, don't forget to speak to your doctor because they may need to adjust the dosage. Take care.

Hi Shelly, It took me over a month on my antidepressant to feel any improvement with my anxiety. I felt so overwhelmed with dread and fear. I would wake up and feel so anxious that I would throw up. My anxiety is really centered on health concerns, but I can certainly relate to the general feeling of unease and that something terrible is about to happen. I am glad I saw it through with my medication. It's been over a month since I started and I just began to feel relief from the physical side effects, and I finally feel like I can control my thoughts more and enjoy the day the way I did before my anxiety got so intense. I have a lot of hope for you that things can be so much better than they are now. I hope you'll hold on and take it one day at a time. I agree with what Stephen shared. I had to increase my dosage for it to start making a positive effect on my mental health. Your doctor should be able to help you find the right balance. Things will change and they can get so much better for you. Take Care
