Can't get good breath in!

Hi,

For the last few weeks, I feel lots of throat tightness and slight chest tightness. It takes soooo much effort to get a good inhale. Some inhales "work", and others don't work (and it feels awful). When inhales do work, they work at the end of the inhale, and I have to work really hard to pull the air in before it works. In the last few weeks, I have woken up once at 3am with these symptoms of not getting enough air. I have trouble doing cardio exercise, because I feel like I'm not getting enough air. Asthma rescue inhalers help a little, but nothing too noticeable. I have absolutely no stress in life, and I don't feel anxious. Anyone else feel like this?? I just can't believe this can be related to anxiety. Please help!!

It could be acid reflux or excessive gas in your digestive system. Try some antacids/PPIs available OTC.

Cut down your weight if you are overweight or obese.

Eat small meals a number of times a day.

Walk as much as you can.

Elevate the head side of your bed to avoid reflux at night.

Consult a doctor to rule out any lung issues.

    Good luck!

thanks for the response! I did try taking pepcid for a few days. It didn't really help. I will try the other things you mentioned. Thank you!

This is just one of the many symptoms of anxiety. I've felt like this but know it's just one symptom. Look online for anxiety symptoms. If they worry you maybe it's time to talk to a therapist. I found that just knowing all the typical symptoms and having them hasn't helped me lessen it. I just started doing telehealth visits with a psychologist who deals a lot with anxiety. If you have a cell phone and laptop it's easy. I'm dealing with so much anxiety now but started working with a good therapist
