Can't get out of bed 1.5 weeks after microdiscectomy

Hello, reading the stories people have shared in here is really helpful in not feeling so alone. Thank you. About 1.5 weeks ago i had microdiscectomy to alleviate L4/L5 protrusion. I had already had pain for 4 months, and tried a cortisone injection as well as consulting with a McKenzie Method specialist. The pain and tingling went all the way down my right leg and was constant. It actually got worse after trying McKenzie method, so I opted for surgery. The surgeon reported afterwards that there was more disk than he expected protruding.

Immediately after surgery, i felt relief in the leg pain. Total miracle feeling. The hardest part was transitioning from standing to laying down and vice versa. This gave me trouble, but with more or less the log roll method I could do it. This relief lasted 7 days. I was prescribed Oxycodone/Tylenol and Cyclobenzaprin right after surgery. After about 5 days I transitioned to Tylenol because the leg pain was nearly gone and the incision was not hurting too much. By day 8, I was walking 1 mile slowly without pain and I did some light work at a standing desk for two hours. I did reach for things below my waste a couple times and squatted with my legs instead of bending. I think I over did it this day.

The next day, I felt some sciatica leg pain coming back, so I realized I pushed too hard the previous day and limited activity to only walking. I took some oxycodone/tylenol at night becuase the sciatica leg pain was present.

On the 10th day the pain got worse, and i was barely able to get up to a standing position from laying down without significant help from my husband and pain that I register as a 9 or 10 out of 10.

The pain is happening specifically when I try to lift my torso and lower my legs. It's an insane amount of pain, and it was so bad this morning when I tried to get out of bed that vasovagal kicked in and I fainted to the floor. I didnt hit my head or anything, but I imagine this motion was not good for recovery from back surgery.

Now, I've been in bed all day, taking the full prescrition of pain killer and muscle relaxer combination. The pain is fairly manageable when I am just laying down, but when I try to get up to a sitting or standing position, its unbearable so I haven't been up walking today since I fainted in the morning.

I have been in touch with doctors today about it and they tell me to let the drugs help reduce pain and possible inflammation/swelling/etc for 24 hours. It makes going to the bathroom... interesting.

Obviously I am worried that I've reherniated. Right now I dont even know how I'm going to get out of bed to see my doctor or get an MRI. I know I'm not the only one who has felt hopeless in these situations.

I'm wondering if anyone here has some similar experiences and if you could share anything that helped or that would be good to think about?

Gratefully,

Chase
