Can't get rid of Blastocystis hominis parasite, help!!.,

Posted , 3 users are following.

my dear friend has been battling this little amoeba for a year and nothing he has been given has been able to get rid of it. He has been treated with flagil (sp?) twice with no result. He suffers from diarrhea when ever he eats, suffers from fatigue and, don't know if this has anything to do with it but has a red rash on his face. He is also losing more weight and is already thin. 8 months to get to see a gastroenterologist.

I have belonged to the PMR forum for several years and it has been an amazing source of support and information so I thought I'd see if I can find some help for my friend as well.

Thank you

Hi there, I have only just see this so hope it helps. Flagil does not work on blasto. He needs to seek the triple (antibiotic) therapy developed by Professor Jonathan Barody at the Centre of Digestive Diseases in Sydney Australia. It is the only treatment that works. From what I understand there are physicians in North America using it but not many. I hope this helps.

    Hello,

I don't know where you are at in all this since it says it was posted 7 months ago. I see that one person recommended the 3 step treatment, but this is no longer a valid treatment as one of the pills isn't used anymore. The doctor I go to do NOT recommend flagil, as she had a RN who did 8 rounds of it to treat her b. hominis and all it did was make it worse, and she had to have a fecal transplant procedure. So I would say do NOT keep doing this!

I did a round of the Alinia, which is normally around 86% successful.. I am in the small percent that it did not work on. I am currently about to start some more natural options. I can come back here in a few weeks to let you know.

I have the same symptoms, and my functional medicine doctor has been very helpful in trying to figure out how to treat this. Also I would recommend, if you haven't already, looking at Dr. Axe, as he is very helpful with his leaky gut diets and supplements, and if nothing else will give you a good idea of food options.

Depending on what's current I would say make sure he avoids grains, fruits, and keep to chicken, turkey, and cooked stachy vegetables. This will at least help calm his stomach with everything else.

I hope that you won't need to use this and that he is doing a lot better!

Have a look at the blastocystis hominis research foundation website.

Also, I tried wormwood, clove and black walnut husk but after a few months it started to damage my kidneys. Luckily tge damage was reversible because i caught it early. There was no change in symptoms. If you do use this natural remedy please have monthly blood tests to check your kidneys.
