Can’t Interpret EBV results. Treatment?

Posted , 7 users are following.

Ive been in pain for seven years. I took UBI treatments for five months sporadically. The doc then thought I had lymes. I’ve had several tests. They all were negative. I felt somewhat better but still not good. Not even close. Then in February I saw a doctor specializing in molecular medicine. He’s got tests that have me positive for EBV and low in iron. My nuclear antigen IgG is 220. Positive is >21.9. My early antigen IgG is 43.9. Positive is > 10.9. My iron saturation rate is 12%. Range is 20-50%. Ferretin is 10. Range is 15-150.

He’s suggesting a bunch of supplements to support adrenal health and to continue with my UBI and ozone blood treatments. I’ve done 120cc of both blood and ozone without herxing. I did 250cc of both last Monday, April 23. Plus 5cc of iron. MAJOR HERX. I’ve thought I was dying. Literally imagined my skin and muscles were melting off my bones. Sorry.  I couldn’t move or speak. I have hurt severely and had aching fatigue since then. It’s been a week. I’m coming back slowly.  Do I do more? Less? I have an appt tomorrow. Im scheduled to do more UBI and ozone with iron. I’m going on vaca the week of May 6th. Stress with work too. Then this? I need to get better but....HELP. What should I do?

    Hi Melissa,

i wish I knew what it all meant but sadly I do not, I'm no doctor!

Are you saying you have been in pain from ebv for 7 years? Or is ebv new to you??

i hope you get some answers and some big improvement soon.  I would do what your body says and not to push yourself too much, can only do what you can do

sorry to not be of much help

40, I don’t really exactly know if the EBV has caused the pain and stiffness for seven years. I DO remember hard lymph nodes under my right jaw right before this all started. I was moving with four kids and in court with my ex husband who left the Midwest for half the income with a girl half his age. It was a VERY STRESSFUL time. I think my immune system was compromised by the stress and my body never fought off the EBV. In fact, I’m convinced it’s gotten stronger and my body has been at war with it ever since.

You’re right. Do only what I can handle. No one else knows my body better than me. Can you believe I’ve been to 12+ doctors and none of them found this? I’ve had 8-9 DX. All based on my symptoms. No labs. It’s nuts. I’m stressed and overwhelmed even figuring it all out. 😞

    Oh goodness Melissa,

So sorry to hear you have been through this prolonged awful time in your life. There are no words that can express how difficult this must have been and be for you.. I think I would be out of my depth trying to offer any advice as your situation has been going on for a long time with different elements to it - I just want you to know that in terms of mono, there is recovery from it after a while, it took me 9-10 months to start to make real progress but I got there thanks to God.

Just really hoping and praying that things get better for you Melissa - remember there is always hope because of God and hoping that there can be times of freedom and good health ahead - I believe that there will be as you really deserve this with what you've been through. Hang in there and thinking of you.

Thank you Craig. Your positive thoughts and feelings are appreciated. It means something just to know there are others out there who are letting me vent. I don’t want to do to much to my body to cater a die off (Herx) overload. But on the other hand-I don’t want to let it take a greater hold on me. Viruses are tricky. No one is a real expert. I’m so frustrated, tired and not in a good place emotionally.

Please continue to send good thoughts. Maybe they will boost my energy and decision making possibilities. Xo

Hey Craig-what treatments did you use to rid yourself of EBV? What were your labs? Before treatment? After?

      Hi Melissa,

You have been through so much by the sounds of it, definitely sending best wishes and prayers for recovery and better times ahead - there is always hope where there is God, and He is always with us. Even the hardest situations can be turned for good although it can be so hard to see or think that at the time.

Well I guess time was the best thing for helping me get over glandular fever. I used a lot of herbs and supplements which have helped me, starting then (over 10 years ago) and still use them and others today. A good strong multi-vitamin per day is really good (I use Immune Extra here in the UK0, high doses of Vitamin C (1000mg-3000mg per day), B complex (great for energy levels and nervous system) and immune boosting herbs like echinicea and siberian ginseng.

Stress is a big factor in this for sure, I'm not sure how it all works but the virus happened to me just after a stressful time too. Caroline gives great advice in just listen to your body and not push things too hard at the moment - be kind to yourself and remember you WILL get through this. I believe you will Melissa, thinking of you and hoping that all the tough times you have been through fade away with new hope and new beginnings of peace, love and good health.

Take care and hang in there,

      Craig

Just wanted to say hi and say sorry you’ve been suffering for so long.

I have been sick for almost a year and I feel terrible that 1 year of my life been spent visiting doctors and not finding answers

Stress can do all this. I had a major stress begore my symptoms started. My doctor watmed me that stress can do lots of harm to my health. I didn’t believe her then

Being a mom to 4 kids is hard, hamg in there, sending you hugs!

Hello Christine. My kids are grown now but I still have stress from them. My two daughters do not speak to me. It’s been two years. They are 22 and 24. I have two boys as well. They are 20 and 26. I have led an incredibly stressful life the last 14 years. It upsets me so much the relationships I’ve lost. Now I think it was for the best. But my body is not cooperating in a healthy way. I’m so discouraged. 🙁

Hey Christine how are you? I’m at a year now and I’ve not left the house in 3 months. Was starting to feel a little better but crashed a few days ago. I have a big pain under my ribs 🙈

Oh, your kids are grown ups now! I can relate how you feel now.

I really hope you'll get some support from your kids. Because we all need help and support when we are not feeling well. ANd this group is amazing too.

I too have a child, mine is little and needs mommy. He gets so upset when mommy is sick. I wasn't able to play or even to smile to my child during this year.

I really hope we will start feeling better at one point.

Hey, I'm still weak, I am mostly at home too because of the weakness. I was better in January but fell sick with fever, sore throat, needed antibiotics.

The pain can also be a sign of acid reflux.

      Have you seen a doctor?

That must be so hard as a mother Christine, when you want to be well to be the best possible mum  - I think you must be a great mum and will get through this and feel better so you can enjoy being a mum again to the full.

You're welcome Christine, and just to say I thought your words on the other thread to Emma were lovely, I know she is going through such a hard time right now and needs words of hope and encouragement.

Thank you Craig. While I'm good at giving advice, I sometimes lose my mind too and I need others help and reassurance too.

But learning my mistakes, I don't want others go through the same. Googling almost made my symptoms way worse. I wish someone advised me back then not to do it. I didn't realize that I was harming myself. Sometimes I think if the psychological part played even worse role than the virus itself.

I agree Christine I am the same, it's often easy to give advice not to put it into practice yourself though! That's the main reason I come on here too is because I know how badly it affected me and just hope I can give a few words of encouragement maybe to help someone who is having a hard time with the virus, and let them know from my experience that it passes and things do get better.

I felt slightly better in January too but crashed towards the end and stayed at home. Went to a and e yesterday with the pain but no joy. Liver function showed better than a month ago so it wasn’t a waste of time! I told them I thought it was acid or gastritis so I’m on PPI now so hopefully it will improve.

I really hope things get better for you soon . I couldn’t have been a parent this last year like you, you’ve done incredibly well! Keep it up smile

      HI Ashley,

Really hope that you feel better soon, it's so wearying to be struggling for a long time and going to a and e and things without much progress - I really do empathise having went through those kind of situations too.

When I had glandular fever, my liver function test showed off as well for a while, but it returned to normal as things got better - I think this can be normal so just really hoping that all settles down with you and remember Ashley you ARE going to get through this and get better - I truly believe that thanks to God's healing promises.

Thinking of you and remember be kind to yourself at this tough time.
