Can’t sleep. Anxiety? Panic attack ? Or something else?

every night i a fall asleep and i feel this jolt go through my body and/or a zap in my heart. i wake up terrified im about to die. My heart races, I get hot and cold, pace around and feel like if i got back to sleep im going to have a heart attack, stroke or something else. My brain feels like a scrambled egg. I saw a super old post on here that was similar but nobody seemed to be responding anymore. there was a reply saying to take magnesium and potassium and i plan on picking some up today to see if that helps at all.

I've had an EKG and the 24hour heart monitor both came back abnormal. Cardio doctor said it was all due to stress. I do not think im stressed anymore so what could it be?

you wrote that your EKG came back abnormal. Did you mean to write that or was that a typo? I think you probably meant that it was normal.

I suggest that you speak with your doctor before you start taking supplements. Especially something like potassium which could be dangerous if taken the wrong dose or you may not even need it at all. potassium is something that we get plenty of in our food.

even if you don’t feel anxious, there may be some underlying anxiety causing the symptoms you are getting. The hot and cold sensations, the jolts, are very common with anxiety and stress. I know it’s very scary but you have to go by the facts And that is that your EKG and monitor were normal . unless you meant to write abnormal.any symptoms of anxiety or not going to hurt you or cause you to have a heart attack.

you just need to learn techniques to calm yourself down. Anxiety and panic can be managed right away when you know how. and once you feel how that is working then you will realize that all of these symptoms are due to anxiety whether it’s obvious or underlying. go on YouTube and look for some methods for panic and anxiety and there are a lot on there! Take care

the doctor said the test results were abnormal. but that it was all stress related. im trying to eat a healthier diet and walking more often. i better not take the supplements just because other people said they would help. thank you for posting your reply. I do need to get in to see the GP for a full panel. My insurance is terrible and we have to pay out of pocket for everything and that makes it hard to accomplish.
