Can't stand the waiting time

I am 7 week post op and was told at my 1st appointment that l would get the other side done 6-8 weeks after 1st. I am lucky enough to be private but now l am losing faith in being private to. I went to see my surgeon last week eager for my next op to be done as both my hips were bone to bone with OA. Now l have had 1st its the best thing thats happened to me. But the pain l am suffering from my other leg is unbearable now. I can't sleep getting 2 hrs max before l wake up in agony.
On visiting the hospital he was so happy with my recovery and said well are you ready for other hip. I said yes l am desperate. He then asked when....now l said today if you cld do it l said jokingly. Then proceeded to tell me he was booked up to well into march!!! Another 2 months of pain.
I was so shocked and begged him to do it faster and said what about a cancellation. He said l will see what l can do. A weeks past not heard anything yet. Its 2am in the morning and l am awake with the pain.
Whats the point in paying for private health care to be on waiting lists like NHS. I realise a lot of people are worse off than me and l am sorry. Poor sarah has been waiting ages at 19 years old which makes me angry.
Anyway l have decided l am getting up tom and calling the hospital to ask whats going on. I am going to push for february. I can't stand the lack of sleep and the pain getting worse. Probably won't get me anywear but l am gonna try anyway.
So fed up of waiting 😕

The specialist finally put me on NORSPAN, its s skin patch, that you stick to the back of your hip for a week (or non hairy area) and forget about it, and that gave me a few weeks relief in the run up to my surgery, they took it off in the operating theatre.
I told him in no uncertain terms if I didn't get some sleep, he wasn't going to have a patient to operate on, as it was with the inability to move I developed a clot in my leg anyway, that then caused a cancelation of my surgery for another six weeks, try to keep moving as much as you can, its important, I went swimming, or modified swimming in a heated pool.
Caused a major fight between the hospital Dr's and a vasular surgeon, who my GP had rung, and said what can I give her.
Crazy that when my surgery was done a few weeks later, what is the tablet I was given, but the same tablets they had kicked up such a fuss about a few weeks earlier.
Now its routine tablet that pot THR's are given.
I was on such a nasty mix of tablets for arthiritis already, adding warafrin to the mix was a NO NO.

i was in exactly the same state as you back last April although I am NHS in UK not private. I asked for 2 nd hip done ASAP and got the same reply. The fastest they could possibly do you is 2-3 months because my surgeon told me your operated leg has to recover and your body has to recover. There is no way it would be of any Benifit to you if they did it sooner than that. I know how you feel I was on the phone constantly begging because too was in so much pain. Only a few days after my first op the other side collapsed. I was in so much agony I couldn't move out of bed for 3 weeks. In the end it has been a very painful 9 month wait. But I got there. Your surgeon is not making you wait to be cruel. Your surgeon is looking out for you and wants your blood lost through the op to be back to normal and your new hip to settle. I promise if he could do t sooner than that I am sure he would. But take it from someone who has been there he won't do its ill he knows your body is ready to go through it a second time. Sorry but that's just how it is.
i know your in pain I am sorry your in pain and I have been there it is frustrating. But your surgeon is just looking out for you.

I had 2 hip replacements last year. I was also private but told hips had to be minimum 4 months apart. I sympathise with your pain but recovery is so much better with one hip partly recovered.
hope you get date confirmed soon. Best thing ever I now walk straight and no pain x

Maybe because half term and Easter is early he's booked up? Also often consultants are away on lectures etc, and maybe he has his NHS list to deal with soon.
Keep your chin up!

The reason l am moaning is because l pay for bupa and l was told at the time of my 1st op that l would only need to waiit 6 to 8 weeks between ops and l was ready at 6 weeks for next one. Unfortunatly when l went for appointment l was told l would have to wait another 2 months. I was just upset and shocked.
I feel for anyone that has to wait months as the pain l am suffering and the lack of sleep is really affecting my life and is getting very depressing. I am sorry if anyone reading my thread thinks l offended them as they have it a lot worse off. I realise l am very lucky it was just that l was told a time then though l was going to have to wait a few months more.
Take care
L
