I can relate to this in so many levels. Woke up with a headache that wasn't really bad but got freaked out so it got worse throughout the day. Pretty convinced something really bad is going on with me. Idk what to do. Ugh I feel you

Hypochondira (aka health anxiety) is a hard thing to live with! I live with it too! It's awful. However, I encourage you to read as much as you can about health anxiety. There are LOTS of books on Amazon to read that helped me A LOT. I learned a lot from all my research & that helped me in the long run quite a bit! It did not cure me, it takes more then studying to be cured of anxiety, I am not sure there is a real cure, as it is a chemical balance that is off inside of our brains... so anything that can help alleviate the symptoms is worth the shot. Google health anxiety symptoms and read up about the issue you have. STAY AWAY FROM GOOGLING YOUR SYMPTOMS. Don't google illnesses or diseases. Stay away from looking those things up. Do not type in your system, google will show you all the worst possiblities and that WILL NOT HELP YOU. It is not an accurate way to find out if you are ill or not. If you are very concerned, go get a phsycial done by your doctor with a blood pannel and have them just make sure you are in over all good health! The hardest thing for people will Health anxiety is believing that they are okay when they are told they are, so force yourself to believe! You will be able to tell the difference between something thats related to anxiety vs. something serious in your body. When you are not panicking, you will be able to tell what is going on with your body. We know our bodies. Anxiety just makes us think we don't.

If it has not helped by then, then please go back to your doctor and let them know. No point in putting drugs into your body that are not doing what they are intended to do.

      Thankyou for this!

I'm a long time sufferer of health anxiety, currently convinced I have HIV.

Your message couldn't have come at a better time.

Hi Anita, I too suffer from extreme health anxiety ( plus depression ) went back to docs today as been on citalopram for years but don't think it's working for me anymore so he has switched me to sertraline, he says give it a few weeks to settle down and take effect and then I'm going back but just wondered if anyone knew if it's possible that a antideoresssnt that has been working can stop after a while ?

Hope it works for you Anita and good luck
