it seems to be one thing after another i dont know how i can cope anymore. my mental state is not equipped to deal with this.
i started taking lorazepam sporadically for about 2 weeks, every 4 days maybe before i started sertraline on 14th AUGUST. i have been taking lorazepam since then too. not daily at first but after trying to ride through the anxiety i caved and now i am TERRIFIED im going to go into withdrawal!! my doctor tells me i wont due to time taken and dose but ive read differently. i know i shouldnt have searched but i did and now im so scared i cant cope. many people taken it for a matter of weeks and have gone through horrendous withdrawal!! i dont know what to do my doctor is adamant so wont give more for taper and wont switch to longer acting. what do i do?? i had a good day two days ago where i left my house for the first time in 8 weeks, i took a 50mins walk with my dog, no anxiety, no drink with me which i never leave the house without and i had ONE piece of gum instead of a whole packet i even found the courage to take the full 50mg instead of starting that dose this friday. and now this!! help me please

Yes it’s true . I do not take pills at all or medicine. But I started issues with swallowing and started over thinking things. So my doctor prescribed my Zoloft. It made me feel horrible and took my apatite away. So I stopped taking it after two weeks. My body went crazy. I lost 25 lbs two weeks after from no eating. Stomach cramps , lost of apatite, and even more anxiety. Stay far away. My sister takes it and it does well for her. Some people can handle the side effects. But not me. It was poison to my body.

I had the same fear. I took Lorazapam for 11 days in a row before I began Sertraline. I had two days of withdrawal symptoms (felt like a bad hangover) when I stopped the Lorazapam, but Ive been fine since. My doctor told me that I could take Lorazapam while I was adjusting to the Sertraline - just so I wouldnt be so anxious about the Sertraline side effects, but I decided not to because I was worried about being hit with another wave of Lorazapam withdrawal. From what I understand, Lorazapam (and all benzo drugs) is less dangerous if you take it sporadically - not every day. That way, your brain doesnt have a chance to develop a dependency on the GABA thats being artificially produced. People who have taken benzos daily for months/years are the ones who truly suffer with longterm withdrawal issues bc their brains cant immediately make enough natural GABA. I believe I had a mini withdrawal because I took Lorazapam for 11 days straight, and Im also very sensitive to medication. It's all to say, you shouldnt worry too much about taking it when you really need it - once or twice a week. It may give you the boost you need to get over some important humps. Getting outside is really important. Good days like the one you described are really important to your recovery because they give you positive context -- you can say to yourself: Ah ha this what happy and calm feel like, and it creates a light so you can see a way out. As you increase and adjust to the Sertraline, itll eventually give you that same feeling of calm and happiness. It just takes time. Personally Ive found that Restorative Yoga and Yin Yang yoga are like a natural dose of Lorazapam (some people say the same about Trancendental Meditation.) Look for a class or try a You Tube video if you are housebound. It will be ok. You are in the middle of the storm right now and you will get thru it. Im proud of you for continuing to fight and trust in the future.

Remember that 21 days in a row (and 41 days overall) is really not that much, especially with that low of a dose of Lorazapam. Very few people have adverse effects when taking for less than 6 weeks, and the bad stories youre reading online are the random few that had such a rare experience that they felt compelled to share it online. Think of the millions of people worldwide who took Lorazapam for a few weeks to get thru a crisis, and went off it with no problem. Those people went about their lives and didnt post anything about it bc there was no reason to. What Im saying is: you have a skewed fear about short-term Lorazapam use bc youre only reading the collection of rare stories about it. Assume that your withdrawal from it will be ok (maybe you will feel blah for a couple of days but thats ok). The thing with anxiety is that it feeds on itself. So now you are worried about the Lorazapam, in addition to everything else, which is making you more anxious overall. Consider tapering off the Lorazapam, continue with the 50mg of Sertraline, and doing a form of yoga or meditation everyday as you continue to adjust. The anxiety is like a fire, and you dont want to keep giving it fuel, you want to slowly extinguish it until its a smolder. Its a fight everyday. Mind control, deep breathing, walks outside, laughs - they are like water to put out the flames. Overthinking is like gasoline. Choose which tools you want to use to fight the fire.

i do meditate daily as well as listening to regular hypnosis. i dont do any exercise at the moment as i have been advised not to due to my lack of diet and collapsing when i tried to do some gentle cardio. i tried for a year to better myself without medication purely because i fear it so much, what it can do as in side effects. i have an extreme phobia of vomting and retching 😦
