Can the pain in leg go when DVT has broken away?

Hi guys,

This may sound silly to some but I suffer with pains and full aches in my calf.

Last night however is was extremely painful.

This morning I have woken up and feel nothing.

My reason for writing this is that I wondered if you did have a DVT and the blood clot happened to break away would all of the symtoms in your leg such as leg pain and ache go away when the DVT has broken and travelled.

Does the fact the leg pain has gone indicate there was indeed a DVT and now there isn't and it's broken away as the pain had disappeared

Thankyou in advance to anyone who comments back

Watching with interest, I've had leg pain for three months getting worse by the day, three different diagnoses ftom three GPs. Can hardly walk but another three weeks to vascular appt. A/E beckons. Have you seen doctor about it?

Hi, it is my understanding that the clots can't just break away and disappear, it has to go somewhere, pieces of mine broke of and ended up in my lungs. I have had a clot in my calf since Oct '15, it is slowly dissolving but still there. The amount of pain varies daily, from nil to a feeling like a cramp. Maybe you are just having a period of no pain, or maybe if the clot was only small it has dissolved enough to allow blood flow and hence reduce pain. The only way to be sure is get it scanned again.

      Iv never had a scan.

      Thankyou for your reply.

I meant if there was a clot and it broke off would the pain stay in your leg.

The reason I ask is that the pain has gone on my leg and I'm wondering is it because there was a clot and it broke away.
