Can this be right?

After being given Sertraline a while ago, I've finally been convinced that I should take them. I was utterly terrified after reading all the different posts on here and well prepared for all the side effects coming my way.

i took the first one last Friday night and didn't sleep a wink so since then I've taken it in the middle of the morning with food. Well, nothing's happened! I feel no different, but my family says I am calmer and less likely to explode as I did. I didn't eat much for a couple of days but now more or less eating normally. I'm sleeping a lot better, even having a sleep one afternoon for an hour. Other than that, I can't find any of the dreadful side effects.

I know that it's only been one week, so I presume it might build up the longer I take it and I might be in state in a few weeks, but I really feel so relieved after my terror of taking it. I'm only on 50 mg and will resist them putting me up to 100mg as I presume they will want to.

Just hope it might reassure anyone who is lurking on these forums as I was and feeling worried about taking it.

I think of myself as extremely lucky smile

Yep! That's pretty much my story! 50mg is a very low dose, but effective...... From my experience, there may be ups and downs over the next couple of weeks.... But nothing too traumatic! Stick at it..... Re evaluate yourself  monthly, rather than daily! Good luck!

Thanks for replying all of you. I was worried, of course, to put this on as if I was smug or something. I'm glad others have not suffered too but I am expecting it to get worse......maybe?  Just wanted to log this now and re-evaluate in a couple of weeks.

If you're on happy on 50 mg I don't see why they would want to give you a higher dose? I'm really pleased they're working for you. I had bad sleep patterns really bad tiredness, irritation from the smallest thing and really emotional too. Pretty bloody hellish tbf but hey ho I'm an awkward bugger anyway! Good luck on your journey xx 😀😊😊

Don't worry even if you get any side effects they only last a couple of weeks or so. I have been taking Sertraline for approx 16 months and have stuck to 50 mg. I find it helps take the edge off the effects of anxiety, stress and depression. I hope they work for you

    All the best
