Hello im a 16 year old male and i have anxiety and im asking if drinking coffee increases the stress from my anxiety?

Because lately i have been worrying about my health a lot to points were i cant sleep properly but the amount of coffee i drink isn’t that much and i have been drinking coffee for a long time now.

Can this be the after effects of coffee or is it something else?

I cannot even drink a half a cup of coffee anymore. I used to drink it but now that my panic attacks are back I cannot.

Any caffeine will make a attack worse.

Hi Alex, It has been noticed that anxiety disorder people have increased sensitivity towards coffee. Caffeine acts against benzodiazepine. Benzodiazepine relieves nervousness and tension and helps to improve sleep disturbance. Due to this property of coffee, intake of coffee produces an increase in blood pressure and plasma and urinary catecholamines. Ultimately acts upon the central nervous system and cause excitation.

for me Alex, I use tea instead of coffee... I hate tea but it works for me. I sit down relax and read a book or feel the music 'in my case I am deaf' your case you can hear music.... listen to soothing music... if u like blues look for Tracy Chapman and B.B king when the thrill is gone, u like Jazz? ray charles is nice, r&b my fave is bruno mars most songs, I love Tracy Chapman change or give me a reason... it soooo relaxing....
