Can Valtrex mask an igg hsv2 blood test to a false negative?please help Im very confused

Hello, I was recently diagnosed with hsv2. I had symptoms of pelvic pain, burning, discharge and tingles but no visible outbreak.

I had an igg test result of 2.13 my doctor recomended I take valtrex. My symptoms got milder but I woudl still feel ocasional feelings of stabs, mild pelvic pain and the feeling of little ants or bugs around my pubic area. I got retested just to make sure I didnt have anything else. My test result came back negative igg 0.18. This was after 2 1/2 weeks of valtrex.

Now I am confused and I dont know if I have it or not.

Coud valtrex be the cause of the difference in the test?

any help is highly appreciated.

Well a blood test right after newly being infected will produce a false negative, as your body hasn't had time to build up antibodies yet. This is what happened to me a week after infection.

I also have a friend who has had heroes for 9yrs and she's come up negative every time and suspected valtrex was the culprit, so she stopped it for awhile and was actually waiting for an ob and it didn't happen, but that time her blood test did come back positive. Took 9yrs... Low antibody count gives a false negative. The less viral load in your system, the less antibody activity.

No sores need to be present.. Signs and symptoms you read online, we are the 20% that have the "typical" signs and symptoms, such as sores. 80% of people w genital herpes don't know it, because they are asymptomatic or symptoms so minimal, they chalk it up to something else.

I suggest you wait 3 mo the after infection to retake tests.

The symptoms you describe are called paresthesia. That insect crawling I the worst feeling. Happened to me on a daily basis for 8 months after infection. I've only recently had days w little no zero symptoms, such as all the sensations you described.

Yup.. Sure was.. I even went up to 1000mlg a day and it changed nothing really. So I did a lot of research to find out how to create health of the nerves, as I believe some get nerve damage from the virus. My goal was also to boost my immune system. So I documented my syotkms daily for months, w the addition to supplements I was adding, along w triggers, such as liquor. Below routine is what was the game changer for me. Also, when having symptoms, soak in a lavender and Epsom salt bath as long as possibly, daily until symptoms subside.

In regards to helping stop or slow down or decrease the intensity of the obs, I started a supplement routine, as I used to have two obs a month and 20 symptoms on a daily basis the first 8 months. Now I have 0-5 symptom's a day.

      - 2000mlg daily of Vitamin C & D

      - daily zinc and magnesium

      - 2x daily multivitamin

      - all vitamin Bs, A, K & E. Those are needed for the Bs to work properly for good nerve function and repair.

      - a daily live culture probiotic. 70% of pur immune system is in our gut, so we just boost it w proper pH balance

Thank you, this is so helpful. I was feeling so lost with my symptoms.

I'm going to start with vitamins and hopefully getting my inmune system stronger. You really shed a light to that "ant crawling feeling" ..

A few alternative suggestions also: Olive Leaf Extract supplement, Virgin Coconut Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Apple Cider Vinegar.  Echinacea tincture good for boosting immune system.

Fingers crossed your negative results are accurate!

Yes, I have described it as feeling exactly like an insect is crawling on your sin, but underneath the skin. It is so annoying and makes you feel ick. . I feel the areas I feel this on my genitals, is where I shed virus. I used to get it all the time on the buttock and back of thighs; makes you itch it.

The probiotic was the biggest change for me. Keep in mind, all those vitamins are needed to support the other one or it defeats the purpose.
