Can Vestibular neuritis or BPPV cause only nausea ?

hi

to start with let me tell you that im diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder.

One night,20 days ago, i experienced a violent episode of vertigo I literally couldn't come out of bed.

Fast enough I noticed that my vertigo would be triggered if I rolled over left in bed and that didn't last more than 15 seconds.

Other symptoms that i experienced was nausea imbalance lightheadedness dizziness and  extreme anxiety.

I called my doctor who prescribed Dimenhydrinate witch i take day and night and after 5 days when i rolled over to my left i had no vertigo  to my suprize but i still felt woozy and imbalanced.

I called my doctor again and he added a new med to take with Dimenhydrinate  that is Betahistine one tablet 3 times per day.

After some days on it my balnce got better and my dizziness have subside.

now i feel  nauseous, witch i din't felt 5 days ago nothing alse just sick in my stomach.

The onlty thing that has change in these past 20 days is my stress levels with are sky high over this issue and the siggaretts i smoke,i went from four a day to ten+

Can that be the reason of my constant naucia or is normal with inner ear conditions to feel naucious without other symptoms?

This sounds more like classic BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), which is caused by the crystals in the inner ear getting into the wrong place. The short-lived vertigo when rolling to one side in bed is characteristic. It's not viral in origin, unlike vestibular neuritis.

If it is BPPV, medication won't help. I'm afraid the condition is not always well understood by doctors. What you need is to get an assessment, preferably by a vestibular physiotherapist. They can determine within a couple of minutes whether or not it's BPPV, and if it is, they can fix it on the spot by performing the simple Epley manoeuvre. Some ENT doctors know about BPPV, but sadly not all of them. Your best bet is either to find a vestibular physiotherapist or a specialised vertigo or balance clinic, if there's one in your area.

There are on-line sites showing you how to perform the Epley manoeuvre yourself, but I wouldn't advise trying this. It's an apparently simple manoeuvre, but if the timings aren't absolutely right it can leave you feeling much worse for a few hours. Best done by an expert.

lily thank you for your reply.

unfortunately, i live in a small town that doesn't have any specialized doctors or  vestibular physiotherapist here to help me out,

We are lucky enough to have an ENT witch he gave me a bunch of meds and told me to call in 15 days to see if i have made any progress, which I believe I have since I'm vertigo free for more than 15 days.

I did perform the Epley maneuver alone (i found it on the internet) at home and my vertigo left leaving me dizzy and imbalanced for several days.

My main problem now is nausea.

I don't have any other symptom just solo nausea and I was wondering if this is normal to have with vestibular issues nausea as a solo complain.

If you have no further dizziness, it sounds as if the nausea might be due to something else - possibly your anxiety levels, which you say are high. It could even be an adverse reaction to the meds.

As far as i know, i don't have any of these issues,

I get bloated when stressed and tight in my stomach.

Definitely sounds like BPPV to me too. See and ENT for an Epley and STOP taking meds!
